Lady Update and Stormy Update

Lady was adopted this week! She has a wonderful new forever home to love her.

Unfortunately, Stormy was brought back to DDR as you did not get along with the adopter's cat. So Stormy is still available for adoption. Hoping she finds her forever home soon.

Stormy

"Our final Mission 6 baby is our oldest - 10 year old Stormy who is momma to Trampoline. She is also, in our opinion, the worst off psychically.

Poor Stormy looked so pitiful the day we met her. Overweight, missing hair, bowed front legs and infected pressure sores. She was also pulled the first night and spent some time with a wonderful rescuer friend of DDR until we had available foster space. Thank you so very much Tracy!!

After a visit with Tracy's vet along with a recent visit to our vet, Stormy is on thyroid medication, a joint supplement and Doxy as she also tested positive for Lyme.

Our sweet senior girl was obviously bred over and over with no reprieve. Living her life supplying babies for sale. Well...no more sweet girl! We promise! It's all comfy couches and fluffy dog beds from here on out! You will live the life of a queen!
As with all of the Mission 6 dogs, Stormy has an incredible temperament. She is great with other dogs and wonderful with every human she meets. She is also said to be fine with cats, however, there are no cats in her current foster home.

It's the little things that makes Stormy's foster mom smile... Like when Stormy will pounce around with the other dogs like a big puppy or when she sprawls out on her dog bed sound asleep with not a care in the world. Even picking up a bone and chewing away brings tears of happiness to her foster mom.

Stormy is a special girl for sure and at 10 years old she deserves every bit of catering she receives. As a senior girl whose only job was to have babies, we are, just as she is, looking forward to her future of no puppies and everything about Stormy.

Our momma girl is still in need a spay and a dental. With her future vet costs along with her previous costs, we estimate her vetting around $400-$500.

If we can secure at least sponsors 20 who can graciously donate $20 toward our sweet senior girl Stormy's care, we would be at $400. No amount is too small and its easy to donate! Just visit our website and click on the donate button. You can also mail a check to PO Box 583, Moon Township, PA 15108.

As always, we sincerely appreciate the support of our mission to help those who can not help themselves. We couldn't do it without all of you!

Welcome to "All about you" Stormy! Its smooth sailing from here on out!"

Trampoline

"Thank you all for your patience! As we mentioned a few days ago there has been lots of activity here at DDR with all the dogs in our care. But - today we continue on with our Mission 6 and the introduction of our 5th baby, Miss rampoline.

Tramp is the youngest of the bunch at 5 years old. She is also the healthiest and in the best physical condition. As with all the others, she has an incredible personality, is great with other dogs and loves, loves, loves every human she meets.

In her foster home she has discovered the couch and the bed! Luxuries she has not had and wow - she loves them! She also, in typical Dober style, loves cuddle time 'on top of' her foster mom and dad and play time with her foster brother.

We suspected Tramp may have an issue with her eye - possibly entropian. She had a visit with our vet yesterday and our vet confirmed she does not have entropian. She does have deep seated eyes, but other than that nothing else is wrong with her eyes. Yay! Our baby girl will be having her spay next week and we are awaiting blood test results for Lyme disease.

Tramp's estimated vetting cost is around $300-$350. Through her introduction we are hoping to secure sponsors to help with the cost of her vet care.

If we can find 17 sponsors who donate $20 we would be at $340 for Tampoline. No amount is too small and its easy to donate! Just visit our web site and click on the donate button. You can also mail a check to PO Box 583, Moon Township, PA 15108.

As always, we sincerely appreciate the support of our mission to help those who can not help themselves. We couldn't do it without all of you!

Welcome to the rest of your happy life Trampoline!"

Lady

"MISSION 6 DAY 4.....Say hello to Lady.
Lady was very sad to look at at first. Obviously she had been given birth to multiple litters. After a bath and settling in at her foster home she is looking much more like the pretty girl she is. She is great with other dogs, and although she will chase cats, we dont think she would hurt them. She'll be 6 years old on March 7th. Right now she is on Cephalexin for a secondary skin infection and we will be having her Thyroid tested as well. Like the others, she will need a spay and a dental along with a heartworm test. Lady's estimated vettting will be somewhere in the area of $400. Through her introduction we are hoping to secure some sponsors for this pretty blue girl. WHp's in? Thank you so so much."

Princess

"MISSION 6_DAY 3 brings us the intro of this petite little lady, Princess. Princess is 6 years old, birthday August 10, 2007. She's adjusting to life in her foster home and still in need of a spay and dental.

*With this evenings introduction of Princess, we are hoping to again secure sponsors to help us with her vetting costs of $350. We have more than 2,700 of you connected to our FB page, if only 35 of you donated $10 each we'd meet our goal. Special Mission 6 Recognition will be given to everyone that has contributed to our Mission 6 Kids (including those of you that have already generously donated following our post about their rescue last week)

If interested comment below that you would like to be one of Princess's sponsors & donation can be made via our website, Home - Distinguished Dobermans Rescue, Inc. and please note "SPONSOR PRINCESS" ddrinc.net or by mailing a check to PO Box 583 Moon Twp, PA 15108.

This was the largest single rescue DDR has ever taken on and not only was it an emergency it occured during a time when we already have several medical and surgical cases we are taking care of. As always DDR appreciates all of your support. 100% of donations directly benefit the dogs in our care.

Thank you so much for your continued support and words of encouragement."

honda123 Dax, Thank you for what you do and saving the lives of the Mission 6 Dobermans.
Considering their ages and health concerns, their outlook would have been bleak.

Bless you and your volunteers.

Performing acts of kindness and action is rewarded, not just talking.

A check will be mailed out on Monday.

Thank you for providing the postal address.

Abby

"Introducing our second Mission 6 kid…Abby. This 8 year old beauty was born on October 1, 2006 and is Red’s mom. She was previously spayed as she suffered from Pyometra following a litter. Abby, was amongst the first two to be taken in as she was dangerously thin and dehydrated. She received 2 bags of fluid the very next morning and like Red tested positive for Lyme and is on Doxy for the next 30 days for treatment. Abby is sweet and good with everthing. She’ll be ready for adoption once she had her Dental. Abby’s first vet visit was $200 and we estimate another $200 between her dental and her doxy.

She is settling in to life in her foster home and is quite the cuddler.

*With todays introduction of Abby, during the next 20 hours we are hoping to secure 20 sponsors at only $20 each to help us cover the cost of her $400 vetting. Special Mission 6 Recognition will be given to everyone that has contributed to our Mission 6 Kids (including those of you that have already generously donated following our post about their rescue)

If interested comment below that you would like to be one of Abby's sponsors & donation can be made via our website, Home - Distinguished Dobermans Rescue, Inc. and please note SPONSOR ABBY ddrinc.net or by mailing a check to PO Box 583 Moon Twp, PA 15108.

Red

"SIX DAYS OF MISSION 6 - DAY ONE......RED

Meet our only boy in the bunch - Handsome Red located in Ithaca, NY. Red is 6 years old. He was born on May 7, 2008. He is GREAT with other dogs, even cats. He loooves people & is very good with kids. Two of his favorite things, driving cars and then relaxing on a recliner chair. What a silly boy. At one time he was even owned by a Pittsburgh Steeler player before being returned back to the breeder because of the need for the family to tend to a sick child. Red will be a wonderful addition to any family.

Red was one of the first two we took in as he was very thin & needed to see a vet fast. He did test positive for Lyme, and is now being treated with Doxy. Fecal test results revealed both hook and whip worms. He also required 2 bags of fluid to combat the dehydration. This visit was $200. We received a generous donation of Doxy for his Lyme treatment but we still need to get him a dental and his neuter adding another $200.

*With todays introduction of Red, we are hoping to secure 20 sponsors at $20 per sponsorship to help us cover the cost of his $400 vetting. Special Mission 6Recognition will be given to everyone that has contributed to our Mission 6 Kids (including those of you that have already generously donated throughout the past week).

If interested that you would like to be one of Red's sponsors & donation can be made via our website ddrinc.net or by mailing a check to PO Box 583 Moon Twp, PA 15108.

DDR's Mission 6!

Given permission to cross post:

"MISSION 6 - YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
On Wednesday we received notice about a family that could no longer care for their dogs. After speaking with this family we learned they were seeking help from a rescue due to their current financial situation. At that time we only knew there were several Dobermans as well as some Mastiffs in their care.

Upon arrival on Friday, we were introduced to six sweet Dobermans. 5 females – Stormy, a 10 year old female, Abby, a 9 year old female, Princess, an 8 year old female, Lady, a 6 year old female, Trampoline, a 5 year old female and Red, our lone male who is 6.

Each dog was gone over with a fine tooth comb and notes were recorded regarding their medical needs. The first night we took home three of the Doberkids who we felt were most in need – Stormy, Abby and Red. Stormy will be seeing a vet tomorrow. We believe she may have a thyroid problem and this is the reason for her excessive weight. Abby and Red saw our vet on Saturday morning and received fluids, bloodwork and 4DX tests. Unfortunately Abby and Red both came back positive for Lyme disease which in turn means they will need to be on Doxy for 30 days.

Today, we were able to go back and bring home the remaining three. Lady will need to see a vet for a possible skin infection along with a potential thyroid issue. Princess and Trampoline do not seem to have any immediate health issues, but we will also have 4DX tests done on them as well.

Stormy, Lady, Princess and Trampoline all need spays and dentals. Red needs a dental and neuter - and, we suspect all of the other dogs could potentially turn up positive for Lyme as well.

We estimate the cost per dog is in the area of $500 or more with the Doxy needed to treat their Lyme Disease.

While these dogs need medical care and tlc, we feel as though this was a successful rescue mission because we were able to make a difference in the lives of six dogs also educate the former owners and in turn prevent this situation from happening again.

Our immediate need is financial for these our Mission 6 babies. Prior to taking them in, we had a total of 30 dogs in our care. There are several major medical cases that were already in our care prior to the Mission 6 dogs. Our rescue was already overwhelmed financially and in need of funds. Now we find ourselves in dire need. We are asking for donations in any amount. Please, no amount is too small. As you all know, we operate solely on donations and without your help we cannot help them.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our volunteers for stepping up immediately in this time of need. When the situation arose you were all willing to drop everything and help. Your commitment to the dogs is a true blessing to DDR.

Donations can be sent via paypal to [email protected] or paid via credit card by clicking the donate button on our website."
