if you're honest and willing to do a little reference, background and home checking of potential adopters there is no reason you can't screen yourself. If you're looking to recoup as much of the dog's purchase price as you can by reselling you greatly limit your ability to screen out purchasers. Few people are willing to pay an individual for an animal and give out personal information required for proper checks on the prospective new owner. |
I'd only use rescues if there were an emergent reason you couldn't take the time to find another home for the dog yourself. It's nicer to leave them some room to handle dogs in truly emergency life and death situations.
if the breeder didn't initially screen well enough to ensure the dog had a permanent home, you'd probably rather not create a repeat for the dog by having the same breeder rescreen and resell the dog.

I agree contact the breeder. Our girl came from a friends friend who had us agree that we would never regime and would contact him if we no longer could care for her. |

I would contact the breeder, they usually specify that any dog than can no longer be kept by the owner must be surrendered back to them. |
If the breeder doesn't care, the best thing you can do is surrender him to a reputable rescue. They have the resources to thoroughly background check any possible home. Your dog will be well cared for by them.

There are three rescues that you can contact, to see if they can help in rehoming him. |
Doberman Rescue of North Texas Welcome
Houston Area Doberman Rescue Houston Area Doberman Rescue
A Doberman Adoption and Placement Team Doberman Rescue
If do decide to rehome him privately have him neutered, if he's not already.
Sadly, most "well known" breeders in Louisiana are well known for being bad breeders.

|Patches Mom||Please be extremely careful there are some that will act like a wonderful family and in reality they get dogs and use them for bait dogs for there fighting dogs. It might be safer to turn him over to a reputable rescue they know how to screen for really good homes. Good Luck its a shame he cannot go with you.|

My very loved Dobie needs a home
My well loved doberman Spartan needs a home, AKC registered Leonidas King Of Spartans I purchased from a well known breeder in Louisiana. Due to having to move for work reasons I will have to find him a new loving home. He is a red Doberman born in 2007 well mannered and loves kids. My 3 year old daughter plays with him all the time and he has never showed a bit of aggression toward anyone in his whole life. Spartan is indoor trained, but loves the outdoors so someone with a little room for him to run would be preferred. His bloodline is extensive sire Cornerstone Saint Rapheal and dam faith McQueen Von Nance. All paperwork shots are up to date, I do not want money for him just a guarantee he will be loved and cared for for the rest of his life. He lives in Canyon Lake TX, so if and only if you really are looking for a friendship with a true champ of a dog I will be willing to let him go to live with you. Thanks for your interest!
