|seoulgirl72||I just saw there was a Rainbow Bridge forum. I'm a little new, so I missed that. I will post some pics of Maximus there as soon as I can. Thank you for your condolences. He was the best part of what made our family great.|

About 7 weeks ago, I posted here asking for information and advice for those Doberman owners who had any experience with DCM. I found this forum to be very friendly and knowledgeable. The information I received helped me greatly, as this was my first experience with the disease.
I am sad to report that Maximus has left us for the Rainbow Bridge. He had responded very well to the Lasix and Vetmedin treatment and we had high hopes that this reaction would continue. However, it did not and Maximus began to go downhill this past Saturday. We monitored him closely but he was no longer eating and only drinking water. He was wasting away.
Yesterday was his worst day and by the time I got home from work, he was ready to leave us. My husband had been home with him all day and called me at 3pm to ask me to come home. I was able to spend a couple of hours with him and we took him for a car ride before going to the vet. He held his head out of the window, nice and high and enjoyed every bit of wind that struck his face.
His passing was peaceful and he was finally at peace. I miss him so very much but I know he is running and playing with a lot of new friends. I also know I will be seeing him again soon.
Thank you for all of your information and support. All of it helped us make the most of his final 7 weeks.
