Don't worry, when I've news, pictures or videos about trials in our working group (G.T. Do Zarzallo), I'll post them in this forum. It's always nice to share this info with people who like working dobermanns!

Maybe you could start a thread on how you ......choose a puppy from a litter for 'sport' training? As I said, I know nothing about the working Doberman, other than the fact that I know this breed 'works' for me.

Best regards to you too!
DLS you are a class act!! I have a ton of respect for you!

Do Zarzallo Well, Obviously Tamara has the same opinion about working dobermanns as me, LOL LOL!!
A working dobermann has fighting spirit, courage and temperament to practise dogsport, but he also has to be confident and balanced with the people.

My ring dobe is almost exactly 1 month younger than my son. They have both grown up together. I have more trust with this "working line" dog with my son than any other dobe I have ever had. I have never had an issue with him in regards to my son, or any child.

and my previous dobe:

contrary to popular belief you do not have to be a rocket scientist to raise a working line dobe. They do not have to be segregated from everybody. It is normal to have them as part of your home and life.

I just wish that more experienced people would help out with problems that some people have with their dogs.

Obviously the OP has experience with this breed. ANd i realize that English may not be the language most used by the OP.

Maybe they could start discussions on working dog issues, ringsport etc. I know I would be interested in hearing more about it here on DT.

Just a thought.
DLS and Greenkouki, I've no problem about it. If someone needs any help about everything related to dobermann or ringsports, he just have to get in touch with me and I'll be glad to answer any question about it or to help him with everything i can.
As you can see, I only post about once per week, because I'm in the University, so I've to study if I want to get my degree.
Best regards

My puppies will try to bite the brooms, vacuum cleaners, go after a ball rolling across the floor, hear pots and pans banging, play with and run around with empty milk cartons as puppy toys, and I don't do ringsport. Over here our society is so litigious, that a breeder has to be careful where their puppies go..unless breeding working dogs, ringsport dogs, is strickly their main goal for their dogs, and only sell puppies to those people "experienced" in those venues!!
Retta, our puppies are suitable for sport, so we try to sell them to people who like dogsports (IPO, Ring, Mondio...). In addition, It's very very very important for us that every puppy goes to a good home. Because of that, we've to select the owners carefully, so the dog will have a good life and work too.
In short, we'll NEVER sell a puppy to someone who won't treat him right or who doesn't want the puppy to live at home.
Best regards from Spain!

It depends on a number of factors. How well known the breeder is, and how well regarded the dogs being bred are. I don't think it is that different than the show world in that regard. Some breeders would be very difficult to get a dog from if you were not a very experienced and proven handler. Not every puppy in the litter is going to be a super high drive working dog. The problem is it is impossible to truly say what the adult dog is going to be based on the traits exhibited as a puppy. I think it is probably easier to see what a puppy is going to turn out conformation-wise than what the working drives will ultimately be. Some working line puppies will end up in pet homes, the breeder just has to screen as best they can.

As a forum member, I certainly appreciate the effort that Dany has made to highlight his family's kennel. Very little is known of european kennels in north america, and maybe if more of this was done, we wouldn't have so many people interested in purchasing euro puppymill dogs at outrageous prices.

Maybe if Doberman Talk would encourage and promote the discussion of working issues and ringsport in particular, they would be more involved in discussions, as that is their specialty.

I think as well, the moderator's/admin's should keep in mind that this kennel is located in Spain. NONE of the conformation/show/kennel club/agility or obedience is the same in Spain. There is very little similarity for them to talk to.

But maybe they could stick to a few solid comments:

"oh wow, what a nice collar! Oh you made it yourself? Please let me buy one too!"
