Hi I'm David and have been a long time reader and finally decided to jump in. The last few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster for my wife and me. On 2/4/13 we said goodbye to Rommel our 13 year old baby who suffered heart failure. On our vets advice we choose to spare him suffering and he left us in our arms. To lose a family member is getting harder every time as this is the sixth departure of a Doberman from my life since I was 18. Loving them has shaped who I grew into. Rommel will be missed as he has been my constant companion 24 hours a day since my retirement 4 years ago. May he rest in peace. On to the good news. Our family must have a Doberman to love so that very afternoon the hunt was on for a puppy. I used every connection and networked all the people we came to know through the 38 years of Doberman ownership. A day later I found what the wife told me to find. You see she has me trained as well as she does our dogs She wanted a red male since the last 2 have been black. 3 days later our newest family member joined us. We don't have him named yet as I want to see for a couple of weeks to make sure it reflects who he is. Puppy is a tall boy for 12 weeks and hadn't been cropped yet. After looking at his ear set and how they felt to me, we, cropped him the following Monday. I know there some risk in doing it this late but I am confident enough to know that they will fine. It is great to have him. We are thrilled to death as another chapter in our lives begins. Sorry for rambling on for so long. I look forward to sharing his life with all of you.
David
