Hello

Hell everyone,

I am a new member to your site. I have a 4 month old blue doberman male. This is the first dobie I have ever had. I also have 2 boxers which I rescued. Does anyone have any helpful hints that are specific to dobermans?

I do have a question. I had Mick's ears cropped but they aren't staying up. I have tried to retape them but I can't find any tape that is sticky enough to stay on. Any suggestions?

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Candace

You have to keep experimenting with tape. Interestingly enough I found that an store brand at Fred Meyers (Kroegers?) was a lot more sticky than the name brands they carried for more money.

What are you using for the posts?

I've heard good things about Zonas tape (I think that's what it's called). There are also some methods that use a skin bond glue.

Zonas tape can be tricky to find- check for "coachs tape" at the drugstores.

I buy a lot of stuff from here: Zonas Adhesive Tape - Jeffers

Are your other dogs females? The reason I ask is that Dobermans are known for male on male aggression that you will have to be careful with if you have other males.

Also, there is a thread with people willing to help, in person, in various places. Maybe there is someone near you that could show you the ropes.

Thank you. Our boxers are all females. Our English Mastiff splits her time between our house and our daughter's house but she is a female also.

At 4 months old he is already becoming the alpha in the house which is really surprising to us as one of our boxers is a very alpha female.

Any other helpful things to watch for with Dobies?

Thanks,
Candace
