Hi,I just joined today,I have a 2 year old female doberman named Stella, she's pregnant now and is due march 20th.
I had Stellas ears cropped in london at staples, just wondering if anyone knew of a vet closer that does cropping.

Welcome

Welcome from Missouri - There are several breeders from that area that should be able to help.

Edit: ah yes, I was right. Dr Staples has been mentioned here in many threads as highly regarded for his skill at cropping. If he is that accessible to you, I would not be fussed with finding anyone else. 80 miles is nothing in return for a good crop.

And maybe you should have put that picture of your bitch on your kijiji ad. What is her breeding? Is she titled and health tested?

Welcome to the forum.

Hi,thanks for the reply, another person close to me in waterdown is a dr.watzin, she charges $892.00 not including pain medication whatever that means,I almost fell out of my chair laughing. When my dogs ears were done at staples in 2007,all I used was tums and he charged me $228.00,he has the best reputation in ontario, just wondering if anyone close in hamilton. Her puppies are due march 20th,they are not registered and I have them posted on kijiji,I have sold 4 females so far.

Ah, so when you said in your advert CKC registered, you meant continental, not canadian. You should clarify that, otherwise you could get sued for misrepresentation of a product.

You might want to read up on some of the Health problems the breed is prone to.

Dobe Health Issues

Dobermann Dogs - Health Issues Affecting Doberman Breed | Dobermann Welfare Association

https://www.dobermantalk.com/dt-educa...-problems.html

Its not that far, and he really does great work. It is worth the 80 miles there and back isn't it? If its the best option for these puppies?

You should post her health testing and the studs or at least inform your puppy buyers of the various health issues involved, especially those that haven't been tested for before the mating took place.

EDIT to add: I am not trying to make assumptions about you or your dogs or breedings, but just make sure you are aware of the dangers involved with selling puppies from parents that haven't been fully health tested. Good luck with your whelp, I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Stella is very pretty. Please make sure to keep the puppies until they are at least 8 weeks old, they need the time with their mom and siblings.

Yep, raising a litter of puppies is not easy and you will need lots of patience, as well as a fenced yard and a dedicated room in your house for the litter because it sounds like you will have a lot of puppies! Did you have an xray showing 10?

I hope you will remember that you, as the breeder, do have the responsibility of raising the puppies in the best possible way for their future life. The last couple of weeks in the litter (6-8 weeks of age) are very important to the future of the puppies because this is when they learn bite inhibition. Many dogs are turned over to shelters and put to sleep because they did not learn good bite inhibition as little puppies. I hope you will talk to your veterinarian and other breeders to learn more about why it is important to keep the puppies until 8 weeks of age.

Why did you decide to breed your young Doberman? What qualities does she have that you felt would improve the breed?

THE BOONDOGGLE
