Hello Everyone!

I am new here - my name is Bea and I live in PA. I have two neutered male Belgian sheepdogs, a bunch of reptiles and a parrot. I work from home and we are looking to add a female Doberman puppy to our family sometime this year or next year. I joined the forum in hopes that I could get some breeder recommendations as there seems to be a lot of ****ty breeders out there. Either a breeder in PA,OH, NY, NJ, VA (or other somewhat close states) or a breeder that is willing to ship their puppies.

I have been doing a lot of searching but so far I have mostly found pretty iffy breeder sites.

If anyone can help that would be awesome!

Really appreciate any suggestions!

Bea

Another welcome from Colorado! And funny enough, I'm actually getting a pup from PA. I've been working with Pat and Shadeko Dobermans for the last couple of years and honestly, its been fantastic. The years wait was more on my end rather than hers, thanks to surprise surgeries and medical issues, I've had to wait a little longer but Pat has been nothing but fantastic.

But please stay away from Kimbertal, also in PA. They are the epitome of puppy mill and when I was going through my researching process, I had stumbled on them. Luckily I had called to ask some questions and the woman who answered was just plain rude. Just asking if I was going to purchase one of their dogs when I was trying to find out more on the health.

I know you reached out to me and sorry to say that I am not doing the breeding that was in the works for this december. My Mabel had an iffy cardiac ultrasound this month, and we are going to repeat it in 6 months before making a final breeding decision. Sometimes 2 year olds have wacky heart test results and I'm crossing my fingers for a better result in 6 months - I am going ahead with all other health tests... which of course are all good so far. Will also be doing a 24 hour holter on her next month. This is why we test before breeding!! Mabel is absolutely fine and her results were still in the normal range, but not what we wanted to see. Ugh.

Welcome!

I personally love the Shar-jet dogs - have met several and love their temperaments, and Sharon's dogs generally have been long-lived. A local friend of mine has a Shar-jet girl and I just adore her.

(Mary Jo - fingers crossed that Mabel's echo turns out to just be a blip...that's scary.)
