How old is the puppy. Where did you get him. Did he come with registration paperwork?

The bottom line for an answer is that Doberman puppies don't have really long muzzles when they are very young. It lengthens as they grow. So if your puppy is very young that may be why a vet who was't really familiar with Doberman puppies and what they look like at various ages would think your puppy isn't purebred.

For future reference--the easiest way to know if a puppy is a pure bred anything (any breed) is to buy only from known breeders with good reputations. From them you would get a puppy, with a registration, usually a copy of their pedigree, vaccine information and often much more.

You might post some pictures of your puppy here--there are many people who have or are now raising Dobe puppies who might be able to tell you if they think the puppy is purebred.

I must admit though, that I'm relieved that the question was not one of those "my dog is whining non-stop, has been vomiting every 5 minutes since yesterday and now he won't move— what should I do?" kind of thing when the answer is "GO TO THE VET NOW instead of asking questions and waiting for answers on-line."

Rebreanu—post pictures of your puppy here—a side shot of him standing up and a closer shot of his head from the front and side if possible. Lots of folks here have seen dobe puppies at every age and probably have a better idea than a vet might of what they tend to look like as they grow. Even a week or two difference in age can make a big difference in how they look when they are young pups.

One of the easiest ways to post pictures here is to use an online host like flickr or imgur. (They're free for moderate use by the casual amateur with not that many needs.) Here's a tutorial about Flickr that might help you out:
