Defender of Bulgaria Doberman Breeder

Hi - I am new to the doberman world. I am starting to get much more familiar with the health testing and genetic defects of dobermans, and why it is so important to buy from a reputable breeder. I have recently come across this website: http://www.dobdobermann.com/. Their website looks great and it seems like they care about their dogs. Has anyone ever heard of them and if so, are they a good breeder?

Thank you!

I know a lot more about the North American Dobes and their breeders. If you're in the States or Canada and thinking about your first Doberman I's sure recommend you at least buy locally to the extent of buying in and from a breeder in the same country you are in.

James, there are a lot of breeders who have learned all the right things to say so that they sound reputable. And websites aren't always the best way to find a good breeder.

There is no such thing as any kind of test that will tell you if a Dobe is clear for heart disease and I get a little nervous to see del Nasi in pedigrees because it's a kennel I recognise because there seems to be a lot cardio in the del Nasi dogs.

But I'm NOT any sort of an expert on European dogs.

Good luck on your search but if you are in the US or Canada I'd look for a breeder there rather than in Europe.

Thank you a lot for the useful information! The problem is that i live in England, and its really hard to find a reputable breeder, all of them look like backyard breeders.

So...
I looked at the pedigrees for each of their dogs and these are very very high risk pedigrees, moreso than usual. Several of them already have dead siblings from DCM or another type of sudden death, at a young age.
Furthermore they do not seem to do Echos (much less holters or even EKGs) on their own dogs. The sire of their latest litter has it done but he belongs to someone else. On their "dogs from our kennel page" they list Defender of Bulgaria Deya, who died suddenly (like her sire) at 6 years old, and is the dam of Knight Krusher and Kitana.

If you're after European dogs in particular, there are quality breeders who fully health test here in North America, and might be a better place to get your first doberman rather than overseas.

Are you looking for a cropped/docked Doberman? There is a UK breeder you could check out She shows in conformation and obedience and health tests and also judge in Europe.

Hey James!

I’m the person LadyDi kindly messaged so I could help you out!

We got Axel from Brutal Dragons in Croatia.....I have introduced many people to Nina at Brutal in the short year we have had Axel and I believe another member here Mari received her Brutal pup a few day’s ago in Hawaii

Do you have Instagram? If so look Axel up @prince _axel_the_doberman and send me a message on there as it’s easier to have a back and forth convo and to answer your questions.

Where about in the U.K. are you from? We are in Nottingham

I would be happy to help answer your questions either generally or specifically regarding Brutal Dragons and Nina.

:-)

In addition James.... Nina reports all of her annual DCM checks on all of her dogs and bitches publicly on her Instagram page - take a look. She has some 9 week old pups on there too and they are delicious!!

She is extremely forthcoming with health tests and will provide copies of official paperwork on request for her matings
