Welcome Baby Nubia. Question about ear crop.

Hello DT,
Longtime lurker here. I recently got my baby girl Nubia from a BYB. She is 9 weeks and just got her ears cropped today. I have attached some images. I've seen some people do the cuphead method but my vet told me to just let them hang until the stitches come out (Which is planned for next Wednesday) and then we can begin taping and posting them. Please let me know your thoughts.

Welcome to DT. Glad you are here and I hope we can see pic's of Baby Nubia soon. What is so assuring is when your breeder mentors you in posting and healing of the ears. They would know the very best how to advise you. If they offer you no support I know there are others on here to give you help much better than I. Good luck and I hope you stay around.

Hi Kwasi! And welcome from the Pacific NW.

Nice to have you aboard.

Yeah, in my experience... No problem letting the ears hang until the stitches come out and the ears are completely healed.

When the time comes to post your pup's ears their is a terrific visual tutorial to be found in the puppy section in "forums". It was posted by member greenkouki, who was wonderful enough to also write about "Tape removal" and the "Do's and Don'ts of ear posting.

Keep in touch!

If your puppy just got cropped today 4/16?--And the vet plans to remove the sutures on 4/22 they will very probably not be ready to post.

Letting them hang should continue not just until the sutures are out (and letting them hang is not a problem at all) but before you even think about posting you should very carefully check the entire ear edge and to make sure it is completely healed. No scabs or raw spots and when it's just all nice pink skin you can start posting. That usually takes roughly another week to 10 days.
