Welcome to DT. Is there a reason the breeder is not having the ears cropped? This is a cropped and docked breed per the AKC breed standard and almost all reputable breeders will sell their puppies cropped and docked. The go to vet in Florida is Dr Mendez Quality Care Animal Hosptial - Veterinarian in Miramar, FL

Hi Keith! And welcome from the Pacific NW.

Living almost as far as geographically possible from Southern Florida, I cannot comment on a ear cropper near you.

I will say, however, (as gk mentioned) that any breeder that I would purchase a Doberman pup from these days, would offer the pup to me with cropped ears, a docked tail and dewclaws removed.

Regardless... Best to you and your incoming puppy.

Post some pics when the baby arrives!

A reputable breeder really wouldn't give you the option and would certainly not let you handle the ear cropping on your own after purchasing the puppy. If it's not too late I would strongly recommend looking for another breeder. Reputable breeders will send you home with a puppy with a nice crop that's already healed and can show you how to post the ears as well. There's just way too much that can go wrong if you take your puppy to have the ears cropped yourself. If you would like some breeder recommendations in Florida we would be glad to help. Good luck.
