Researching reputable breeders within 300 miles of Saratoga NY.

Happy 2020! I'm looking for a reputable breeder within 300 miles of Saratoga NY. I would be willing to travel further but want to start pithing a certain radius. I'm interested in a red female, not intending to breed but considering agility/obedience type activities. She will be a companion dog and I have a very active lifestyle....hiking, running, etc, and she will be included in these activities. I would appreciate any suggestions from the forum and may attend some shows or working dog type get togethers to meet reputable breeders.

Best,

John

Welcome to DT. There's a cluster of shows and doberman specialties in NY the week before Westminster. I'd really recommend going! There will be lots of breeders, handlers, & owners that you can talk to, so whether you're interested in showing or just want a well bred pet these are your people! So this is all happening about 3 weeks from now...

Welcome to DT. Good luck in your search. I won't be able to help much since I live so far West, but this is an excellent forum to ask your questions.
You might try DCPA Breeder search.

Would definitely go to these shows! They are specialties for several breeds the weekend before Westminster Kennel Club. The times will be up in a couple of weeks - look at the RAU site for the judging program about a week before the shows. There is one show on Friday, 2 on Saturday and Sunday. I will be there on Friday and Saturday.

Mabel will be showing in Best Of Breed - I know that there will be probably around 15-20 entered in BOB, so our chances are slim.... especially for a young new Champion. I really wanted to go to see more of the boys than what is showing right around me. We are probably at least a year out from breeding Mabel (if we get that far... health testing starts after she turns 2 next month).... but it is never too soon to start looking for Mr. Right
