Ideas...how to make connections with dobe community in South Carolina?

Hey All-
I see that NC has a Chapter Club in Charlotte. Does anyone know of any in South Carolina? We owned a BEAUTIFUL LOVING SMART SWEET girl for just 7 years. She passed away last week with metastatic cancer. We have been devastated. She was the best dog and companion EVER and we will get another, or maybe even two. We want to become more active in the doberman community and are interested in your thoughts of things we can do and where to start.

Many thanks,
Pam and Matt

I would definitely contact the local DPCA affiliated Doberman Club - but would also encourage you to attend some of the local shows to meet people & see dogs bred by local breeders or even far breeders. You can find local shows on infodog.com - about a week before the show the supervisor website (could be infodog, but may be another company which will be listed on infodog) you will find the judging program which will list the ring number and ring time for Dobermans. You will generally find someone ringside willing to talk to you - buy a show catalog when you get there to be able to match up the armband numbers with the dogs registered names/owners/breeders. Some people are super busy (generally the pro handlers) and won't have time to talk, some people are more friendly than others.... but you can almost always find people who will talk to you.

Welcome to DT! I wish you were closer to Charlotte as our club is fairly active. I don't really know of anything in your immediate area, even an all breed kennel club. You could talk with Robyn at Notori Dobermans who's outside of Charleston. She might can connect you to people in your area. The closest dog shows would be Lumberton which has come and gone and Wilmington in 3 weeks. If you are looking for a breeder referral I would be happy to make some suggestions.

Thank you greenkouki for the information. We do get down to Charleston pretty frequently so I will try to reach out to Robyn. I would definitely be interested in your suggestions for breeders. We have contacted and are on schedule to get another hopefully from an upcoming breeding in the fall from our previous breeder. They are out West though and it would be nice to know some locally or on the East coast as well for future reference.

Some breeders to talk to in NC/SC would be Schohaus, Allure, Goldgrove, Hierarch, Phantasia, Shelian, Mistel. There are some in Virginia and Georgia I would recommend as well. Bellacane, Mikadobe, Aludra, Adamas. Most of these are probably on the DPCA breeder list but I'm sure there are a lot I'm missing too.
