Hello *waves*

Howdy! My name is Aleks and I just joined today. I've recently fallen in love with the Doberman, and though I won't be adding one to my family anytime soon (our zoo is currently full haha), I've been trying to devour all the info on them I can.

I currently live in Kentucky, but will be moving to Portland, Oregon this summer to be closer to my gf (and her daughter). Between the two of us we'll have three dogs, two cats, and two rats!

I currently work as an instructional assistant at a special school for kids in residential treatment bc of their behavior. I love my job! I'm also in school studying social work.

I'm really excited to be here, and hope to learn a lot!👍

Hi Az! And welcome!

Also from Portland (since 1971).

FYI, Portland is a great place to live, yet housing is tight and it has become a bit expensive.

My only suggestion is that you have all your ducks in a row before moving to our beautiful city. Job, housing, etc.

Btw, we have many very nice and reputable breeders of Dobermans here in the Pacific NW.

Best to you and your crew...

Stay in touch.

John

HI! Welcome to DT from Colorado.

Your job sounds interesting. My daughter works with autistic kids; she finds it interesting, but frustrating sometimes. Not so much the kids as with the lack of understanding from the outside community who gives her "advice" when she takes them off site to work on life skills.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Luckily I'll be moving in with the gf, so I already have the housing sorted! I'd love to hear any recommendations you have on Doberman breeders in the PNW, John.

And the work is very rewarding, but definitely not for everyone!

I'm a one trick pony... LOL At least for now.

The breeder of our last 3 boys and, I am sure the breeder of our next Dobe, who will be a bitch:

Foxfire Dobermans - Breeder-Owner of AKC Top Producing Doberman Pinschers

She (Michelle Santana) is in Southern Oregon.

They also have a Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/FoxfireDobermans/

Jewelia who is at the top of her FB page, is McCoy's dam. McCoy is 4 1/2 yo.

She (Jewelia) is the daughter of DT member dobebug's: Ch Foxfire's Gold Toed Monster BN CD RE OA AXJ NF CGC CGCA ROM BFL-1 LC-10Ls Toad:

He is a 13 yo fawn.

That being said, you are moving into an area with SO many nice Dobe breeders.

John
Portland OR

Please reach out when you end up here!

Here are a few pics of my crew! Ringo is the brown/reddish one, and Nemo is the Fox Terrier mix (she's named about the fish b/c she has a messed up ear, and the fish had a messed up fin).
