Hi She... And welcome from the Pacific NW.

There are a number of members here from Colorado. Yet, I don't believe any own dogs purchased in the state. Regardless, there are a number of very fine breeders of Dobermans up and down the West coast. And, in my opinion there is no better reason for a road trip than to pick up the perfect pup.

Here is a link to a thread from a couple of weeks ago asking the same question:

You'll see my breeder recommendations in the link that 4x4 posted. I want to warn you about Rocky Mountain dobermans, I have proof that they purposely bred dogs with DCM. Also stay away from Western Colorado European dobermans, they breed WITH Rocky Mountain dobermans and their pedigrees scare the tar out of me in regards to DCM.

Good luck!

Hello from a fellow Colorado member! I went with an out of state breeder because there are very few good breeders within the state. I had lucked out with finding a good one in PA, Pat with Shadeko. I have family there who I am planning on seeing when I go out to get the little one.

No. I can't it's screen shots on my phone and I don't know how to post pictures plus it's maybe 27 photos. She openly admits breeding a dog with DCM. She also admits to purposely breeding dogs over the standard, which is horribly unhealthy for the breed. She has also spoken badly about the DPCA which is the parent club to the breed. I also don't believe she does all of the health testing like holter monitoring and echoing and thyroid testing either. She's brought her dogs to enough AKC shows to leave with a ribbon (which doesn't mean much) and they all look scared of her and everything else. She's a nasty, classless, no morals person. She's your best friend until you start disagreeing with her, which many of her puppy buyers can tell you. My friend in GJ rescued one of her 13mo. old puppies that was already diagnosed with DCM. If you join the facebook group Doberman Pinschers of Colorado there was just a post about her made there and I believe the screen shots have been posted. Or you can message me on Facebook and I can send them to you.

You don't know me but people here can tell you if I don't like a breeder I'll say, "I don't like them but they have health tested dogs". Or The breeder is nice but I wouldn't support them for this reason or another. I can not say anything good about her. I would never encourage anyone to get a puppy from her.

When I was researching breeders, she was rather nasty to me when I asked about health testing. After that, I stopped emailing her and expanded my search.
