You can have hips x-rayed at the Ontario Veterinary College or have rads sent to the OVC, but they don't rate them IME. They used to send a report that says "no evidence of hip dysplasia was seen". No rating like OFA where they tell you the degree of how good or bad the hips are.

There may be other Canadian vet schools that offer this service, too, but I'm not sure.

I switched to OFA after my first couple of hip evals because I learned that it was more of the gold standard.

Just some food for thought. When we bred 2 dog we actually breed their entire pedigrees. So it is very important to know more information than just on the sire and dam.

Conformation is structure is health. Whether or not one shows, I think most of us want a healthy dog. I think most of us want the best odds of having a long lived happy companion. The way to do that is to support reputable breeders who health test, work/show their dogs, temperament test and don't just breed two dogs they own together.

While it may not seem like it, there are a lot of facts to base this on just from the posts. I'm sure you love your puppies. we all do. We all want the best for our dogs/puppies etc.

I must say that I am extremely disappointed in this forum. I joined because I have dobermans. I have received mostly criticizing for how and where I got my dogs. If it truly is a site for doberman owners to connect then why have I received so much crap about where I got my dogs? If dogs were only ever bred and sold by registered breeders, there would be a TON of breeds that would've died off. Having known the breeder for a long time, I can guarantee that he did not do it for money. I love my dogs unconditionally and I really don't give a flying f*** where they came from. They have been vet checked and are healthy. I'm not going to stress over medical problems that May or may not happen in the future. I have more important things to worry about...like enjoying the present with my fiancé, son and dogs. It's absolutely ridiculous to treat a newcomer this way. All I wanted was to connect and talk to thee doberman owners. Apparently mine aren't good enough because they're not CKc registered and champion bloodlines.

Nope. No one EVER said your puppies aren't "good enough" to be loved, cherished and protected. Many people gave you great advice. You can hear what you choose to hear but if you re-read it with an open mind, maybe you'll get something different about it.

Yes people did say it was a BYB. No one commented on your puppies' worthiness so to speak. They did give you good advice as to cropping, raising littermates and health info that should be done at least before cropping.
