So far, so good...
Well, after many delays in the transport from Kansas to NM...Austin is here. He is about as mellow a fellow as you can get. Even with my 2 German Shepherds trying to "herd" him away from me initially...he just went with the flow. He was with 8 other dogs in the foster home he was at for a it is actually pretty sedate at my house I guess with just 2 other dogs and a cat. So far, they are getting along well. I will keep them separated when I'm not right with them though until I am absolutely sure.

He is just such a love. I can't believe someone could be so cruel as to starve him like he was. He has put on at least 5 pounds in foster care, but you can still count his ribs. People are idiots some times!

He's a blue. His poor coat and skin. I know it is genetic, but I'm going to try some things I have been reading about. Surprisingly, I've yet to see him scratch.

Congrats on your boy, Austin. Have you heard of a product called "Showstopper". It is supposed to be fantastic for coats.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hello from Central Coast CA. Welcome to you and Austin. Would love to see photos of your Alamo Gang.

Here is a picture of Austin. Once I can get everyone to sit still for 2 seconds...I'll get a group pic!

Sweet face. Thanks for posting. His coat looks pretty good in the photo!

Well...I spoke to soon.

For those that recommeded in my other thread that I not try to intergrate a male Doberman in with my GSDs, you were right. Some other Doberman folks that I talked with felt that you were over-reacting, so I decided to try it. BAD move!
We were walking through my back yard and they all thought I was headed for the gate. They trotted over and my old guy stumbled. He didn't knock into Austin or anything, but the minute Austin saw him in a vulnerable position, he attacked. I've been around GSDs for all of my 50 years and I've seen both dominance aggression and real attack mode. This was real attack mode. I pried Austin off and took him to the ground and pinned him. He made no attempt to hurt me and submitted to me immediately. He was calm after it happened. It was like someone flipped a switch.
He nipped my thumb as I pried him off, but thankfully my old guy and I are unhurt. My old guy is a plush German Shepherd and he didn't get through the hair of his cuff before I pried him off.
I feel so badly. The Doberman rescue is going to take him back and try to re-home him. He is very sweet with people. He'd probably do OK as an only dog. I really feel bad for him.

SOOO sorry to read this. Hoping he will eventually find a home. Glad you and your old guy are ok.

Glad the 'fight' did not harm anyone too badly.
How long has that Blue guy been waiting for a new home? He looks like a handsome dude. i do hope his forever home comes along soon.

First to the OP:: Welcome to DT!!!!

I've used Showstopper for about 3 weeks and it has improved my red boy's coat by 40-50%. He had a thin coat, not much luster, shedding due to the last Kibble we fed.

Now he has a full and soft coat, less dandruff, and looks awesome. Though, I'm not sure if you can give it to puppies. Here is their website if you want more info:::Showstopper Website

I was just about to congratulate you on your new furbaby!! I am so sorry that you had these problems when it seemed to be going so well. Do you think that more time getting settled into the family will help him?? It seems to me that one incident is not indicative of an ongoing problem. Maybe they just need to adjust. This is not a criticism, just a thought.
