Point being a good breeder can have a crappy website and a BYB can have a awesome website.

It's not that the breed isn't for me. I've done research on the breed. It's the price of the animal. Just because someone thinks $2500 is a good price for a dog doesn't mean the next person thinks the same thing.
For the most part this is not true. A good breeder may not have a beautiful, flashy site, but a good breeder will have the needed info/pedigrees/health testing listed on there site. On the other side, a bad breeder can have a beautiful page but that will only fool the uneducated buyer. A buyer who has done the research can distinguish the two.

As John said if $2500 is a lot of money for you then a dobe is not for you. Not trying to sound snoody but that's just the bottom line. No breed has any guarantees but this breed in particular can cost you a few thousand at any given moment, especially if you buy a poorly bred dog. $2500 isn't pocket change to me, but it's also a very small amount to me in the big picture. My boy I bought in June was $2500 but if I can get the companionship of a lifetime for the next 10 years out of that then I'm happy. That's 250$ a year for love and companionship that you and your family can't replace.

I see zero available titling information. Upon digging, no information in dobequest or OFA. If they've put in the work and effort to prove their dogs are worthy of breeding, then they would be proud to share this information. That I can't find any of it is telling. They haven't even shared the registered names of either of their breeding animals...and they use improper terminology for basic breed-specific things.

The health guarantee involving NuVet supplements is a HUGE issue. In my experience, the only people hawking NuVet as part of their health guarantee are breeders who should NOT be breeding.

They may be very inexperienced, and that would make me uncomfortable. With a breed that can become a health and temperament mess if bred incorrectly, I would run far, far away from anyone not doing it right. If you decide you still want one of their puppies, wait for one of them to show up in rescue. It'll happen eventually.

BTW, I see your price complaint, and I hear you. Well bred puppies are EXPENSIVE, but there's a reason for that. On this website you will get encouragement to rescue or purchase from an ethical, reputable breeder. Buying from Southern Indiana would be neither of those things. Please reconsider your price point or reconsider buying from a breeder.

Yep!

Most people who don't understand are going to say "well you have to start somewhere"..... my answer is no you don't! Breeding should not be the way one gets into a breed! Titling the dog you have and then getting a better dog from a good breeder and titling that dog, joining a breed club and spending a few years learning with truly good breeders is what most good breeders have done. Breeding should be the culmination of years of learning with and about the breed.... and their health issues and needs.

Southern Indiana Dobes does not even know the correct names for all the health tests the stud dog had .... and I'm not correcting her here as she would probably just fix it on her page. She might produce some nice pet puppies, but her level of knowledge is seriously lacking, and I can only think that she is just breeding to make some money.... which if you are doing it right, is the very last reason for breeding! IMHO, she needs to back way up, and start at the beginning again.

Frankly, if someone's breeding without titling, they're lazy and just doing it for the money...which means they're cutting corners EVERYWHERE, not just with titling.

I would also recommend looking at the breeder's Facebook page. Breeders sometimes post pics from shows. Looks like Zing of silverhawk has competed and done quite well.

Yeah, when I've got spayed rescues with more titles than a breeder's entire kennel, that's a real turn off for me.
