Duchess is 5 years old now : ) She was a natural for potty training and it was very important to her that she goes where she learned to go potty. The breeder said to us that when they couldn't get into their kennel because they were cleaning it she would wine and wine that she couldnt go potty where she learned : )
best tip would be, if he has a large cage that he needs to grow into then make a board that is cut to fit in the cage to block off the rest of the kennel in back of him and secure it with zip ties or something... their should be only enough room to lay down. This prevents him from being able to get up to walk to another end to go potty and come back to lay down. If he doesnt have the space to pee anywhere then where he is laying down he is more likely to whimper and let you know he has to go so that he prevents the discomfort of a dirty cage.

Good luck with Diesel and make sure you start teaching basic manners early. It's never to early and they learn fast ; )
