We ended up stopping in a grocery store on the way back to our state, and I dashed in and bought a book of some sort (I'm not typically a reader of romances and westerns, but....the book I bought had a horse on the cover, so I went for it.) and after just 10 or 15 minutes of reading, my normal self was back.

I just don't know if a Kindle will do it for me.

My expenditure on books has gone up these last few months too....I wonder why?
I loved an actual book also, but really got used to a kindle pretty fast. It is wonderful when I travel as I can just load up on books, bring my charger cord, and I'm good to go with just one slim tablet with its cover. I still spend a lot on books - haha - but don't have the problem of what to do with them after.

I would need another room in my house to hold everything I have in the Kindle app -- and I don't have a separate device, I just use the app on my phone.

Bonus, my older eyes don't need to turn on extra lights any more!

Question ! I'm I the only one that has dreams about the virus ? At first when this all started - they were more like nightmares ! Then I had some good ones , Like I got it and had no effects - then Wife Jinxed me yesterday evening ! She said she had started having them again - some real bad ones , I grinned and said for some reason I have not had one in weeks , Then ---- Last night - I had one from hell ! I must be going crazy , dreaming about a stupid virus

This is HuffPost, which usually is kind of worthless, but...this is a reasonably good article on how the pandemic might be affecting you in ways you don't realize: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/sneak...REQhpbc0oOTlQQ

Remember that we're all living under a constant state of stress right now. Even if you don't dream about the pandemic, you might just have more disturbed sleep. That's normal. And yeah, it sucks. Or your stress could come out in other ways.

Dang it, Rosemary--don't you know you're supposed to be huddling in your bed with the covers over your head these days??

Does it look like it's a bad "sprain-insert expletive here"?

The last time I sprained my ankle, it was because I was blind-sided with a blow from behind by a couple of playing dogs. I forgot to keep my knees bent. I went down; but my foot stayed planted where it was. Ankles aren't meant to bend in that direction.

Remember RICE--Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate. If you want to go the alternative medicine route, I've heard alcohol and/or chocolates can help the healing process.

Nope. I tried going down the front steps off the porch without turning the light on. Four steps down, not three....

Yes, it's definitely a bad -insert expletive of your choice here- sprain. I iced it when it happened, and then put my ankle wrap on. I've got it wrapped and elevated now. I've got half a pharmacy of Rx pain killers that I never used after surgery a couple of years ago, as well as from dental work, and a Tylenol with codeine helped me sleep, at least. During the day, regular Tylenol and Advil will have to suffice.

Rosemary,

IMO, this is best soft ankle brace on market that will fit into a next size up, shoe size. There are nylon side stiffeners inside brace.

https://amazon.com/gp/product/B00YBP7JZY/

Dr. Keith Hill issued one to me at Beaumont Bone & Joint to wear for my peroneal tendon tear until I could schedule surgery in SATX. He is excellent orthopedic doctor, but I had to transfer records to my home town doctor for surgery. However, doctors will charge insurance $150+ for this brace that costs $26. So, I ordered several on Amazon, so I could wash and rotate wear.

After surgery and cast removal, I wore this brace for a month or so, at work, until my ankle regained full strength, while going to PT.

If anyone is squeamish about bruises, I'd advise them to not go any further..

This is what my foot looks like this afternoon.

That is some pretty spectacular bruising, if I do say so myself. And yes, it's still pretty swollen. On the bright side, it really does feel a lot better than it did Friday night. As long as I'm careful, walking on it isn't too bad, and there is generally just an overall ache, rather than really sharp, localized pain.

Note to self: four steps down dummy, not three, and turn the freaking light on the next time.

Wow. That seems a long time to be so swollen.

Are you still wrapping it--did you find a brace to wear?

Do you think it is your ankle, or perhaps bones lower down in your foot?

It is somewhat more bruising than I've had with other sprained ankles, because I was barefoot at the time, and twisted my entire foot. The ankle took the worst of it, though. I've usually had it in an elastic support during the day, except for the times when I've had it wrapped all I can stand and need that thing OFF.

I've already had two broken toes on this foot (the "ring finger" one was broken a second time when I broke the middle one..... ), and this just feels like soft tissue injury. Which takes an eternity and a half to heal up. It was six months or so before my last sprained ankle felt "normal".

Rosemary... Sorry about your ankle. I've become some what of a "joint pain" expert as of late.

Hip and knee replacement, arthritis and currently a separated shoulder that the ortho is trying to avoid surgery if at all possible and a displaced patella. Fun.

In any case. They have these people that are kind of like Veterinarians, except that they work on people instead of animals. They even do things take X-rays, do MRIs and prescribe medication and other stuff like physical therapy.

You should look into it!

All kidding aside. Joint issues are not something to be taken lightly and it might be best to have someone put an eye on that very nasty looking ankle/foot.

If one of my boys had an injury like that it would be a vet visit for sure. LOL.

Boy Rosie you did a number on that thing - Like I say , if it's worth doing , do it right and you did it right !

I agree with my fellow Colleague Doc John - That bruising don't look like a normal deal - When I just looked , first thing I thought was something is broke in there . A Doc once told me a bad sprain is worse than a break - they even wanted to put me in a cast for 8 to 10 weeks for one of mine .

I think my professional advise on your case it to call the Vet and have it looked at ,

For you Rosemary

A short story on how the c-19 has effected everybody -- someway . The picture is a truck that came in this morning to pickup a load of corn , The driver and truck is out of NC and is originally from IN . The guy that hauls for us is a very good friend of the guy from NC , They were talking about 2 months ago on the phone and the NC driver hauls Pirelli Race tires to the race track for GT cars - think of the kind that run the 24 hours at Daytona , They supply the tires for Ferrari and Lamborghini Race cars and Beret is the crew chief of the tire team at the tracks as well as the truck driver. Since the c-19 stopped everything - the owner of the truck told the driver , if you can find something to haul - go for it , My trucker was backed up with loads - So Beret came back to IN with his truck to haul corn and beans to make a living and is staying with my trucker at his house . He heads back to NC at the end of his month as they are going to start racing again next month .

Thought a neat story , but you have to do what you have to make a living .

Good morning everybody ! Hope everybody is doing fine ! Here on the farm - believe this or not - we spent lots of time in our office , field work has become our vacation time : ) But about this time of year - we have to report to the USDA what every field is planted in along with plant dates , also have to do this with any crop ins. then any other USDA programs . All this work in the past requires a trip to there offices and now that has all changed from the c-19 . I have some USDA reports to do - I called the local office and now we can do it on-line - They email the forms - I copy , sign , scan and email it back to them - that simple !

Had to leave early this morning to return un-used chemicals I had on hand - got back here to the office and just did my crop ins. - it was so easy ! just pulled last years records out - marked out the crop from last year and rewrote in this years crop - scan to computer - attach to email and sent it out , called agent and told I sent it to him - again , so easy , like I said , before - we had to set up a date and time to meet , now I can do it any time that works for me .

The reason for this post , I have talked to other farmers in my area and they are doing the same thing - the question is , with the tech we have now , are these offices even needed anymore ? How many companies will look at all the over head of fancy buildings they are buying or renting , when there employees can work from home and do the same job .

My sister works for a very large , world leader in farm seed and chemicals , she has been working from home since early March - they have there zoom for conferences all around the world , all from home , matter of fact , there are not even talking about a return to there main facility , just better to work from home and stay safe .

So my DT friends - are you all seeing the same thing ? Is a trip to the office a thing of the past ? Beats me what will happen - but fiber optics it why to cool to have , on mine - about all you have to do is think it and its already there , lol

Everybody have a great day !

Ken,

I worked from home from 31 March until about 1 1/2 weeks ago, when they decided to go to 50% manning. The plan was to bring everyone back to work on the 22nd but since the numbers are still high here in TN, they've decided to stay at 50% for another 2 weeks and after that time, they'll look at the numbers again and re-evaluate then. So for now, they're going to rotate us every 2 weeks, 50% teleworking, 50% here at the office...although we can do a lot remotely, some things do require hands on and customer interaction.
I don't know, but I think until a vaccine is found, we all achieve herd immunity, or the virus magically disappears, this may be the new normal for a lot of people.
