Pt. Arthur seawall

While my husband and kids were at the basketball game yesterday afternoon, the dogs and I went down to Port Arthur to take a walk along the seawall, look for some geocaches, and watch the boats going through the ship channel, more properly called the Sabine-Neches Canal.

We got lucky with the walk and seeing some boats, but still couldn't find the cache we were after.

Mostly we see barges and tugboats, but yesterday, we were lucky enough to see some tankers. They are huge, yet smaller than the ones that don't need to travel through narrow waterways.

Such a crisp clean Atlantic Guard...almost looks like a maiden voyage for her. And then here comes the Ya/Sa ship...more like what I've been used to seeing on the Mississippi, but smaller, I think. Maybe?? Looking it up, looks like your waterway is about as deep as the Mississippi up to Baton Rouge, so I dunno.

And then of course, Leo and Lily.
Is that snap thingy on Leo's collar the way you deal with her license tags? Removable for quiet or to put on different collars/harnesses? Do you feel like it is secure enough it would stay on if she was charging around off leash through the brush or something?? It's a very interesting idea.

Atlantic Guard had some scuffs and scrapes, as well, but not nearly as many as the YaSa Golden Marmara. It's been a while since I've seen tankers on the channel (typically, it's tug boats with barges) but I've seen everything from nearly pristine to worse than the YaSa one over the years.

This is the snap that Leo's tags are on. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...er%20snap%2034 Lily's tags are on a brass one of the the same style. I've found them to be very secure, and started using them when I discovered that the D rings on fancy, custom made collars are so thick that it is nearly impossible to get the split rings holding the tags onto them. They do have the advantage of being easy to remove for doing nosework or parkour, where dangling tags can get in the way.

How bad would it be to hear that it was 70 F and only 45% relative humidity, so nice and dry... if it's any consolation, we are supposed to have rain for most of the week.

Port Arthur, and even Beaumont, are pretty busy ports that can accommodate ocean-going vessels, and the channel sees a fair amount of traffic, and I've taken lots of pictures there over the years.
