Went To The Park By Myself

I left Mocha at home this morning for two reasons, it was really cold and windy out and I was hoping to see a buck or two in the park. It was cold enough so that I was the only one on the trails this morning, and once again, I struck out on the bucks. I did, however, get some pics of the resident great blue heron.

Like I said, no bucks...I walked the long loop and didn't see a single deer, which was disappointing, but instead of heading to the parking lot I took the short loop as well and was lucky enough to run into several ladies who didn't mind posing for me :)

Mocha was happy to see me when I got home so I think all is forgiven for leaving her behind but she told me not to make a habit of it :wink2:

Hmmm....technology imitates nature.

Kai Tak airport, Hong Kong (closed since 1998 because, well, landing there was kinda scary)

If you're impatient, the real hair-raising stuff starts at about 0:46 seconds

Reason 3,756 not to fly ;)

Thanks, modm. Getting a shot of a bird in flight has always been my nemesis, 99.999% of them end up out of focus and blurry so I was pretty happy to see this one was decent, especially with the brush in the foreground.

And, how did Mocha feel about getting left behind?

And, the airplane pics? I don't fly.

She wasn't happy.

Fear of heights + claustrophobia = no flying, if I can help it. Last time I flew, which was our trip back to the states, I had Xanax and Ambien...I was out before they started the engines. My wife woke me up once to ask if I wanted the in flight meal, and I said nope, popped another Ambien and woke up as we were about to land in Atlanta :)

Beautiful amazing photos!!

Flying never bothered me when I was younger; I was too carefree to think of all of the possibilities. Now I'd rather drive. I enjoy seeing the countryside anyway...even the flatlands plains.

Amazing photos, thanks for sharing! I can also see that bird winking at you! Haha So what would Mocha do if she saw the deer, just ruin your camouflage or would she cause problems? Mine go crazy if facing anything bigger then him. I know we didn't do all the right move when he was a pupp. (Plz don't judge me- it's a long story!!!)

Sometimes you do all the right things and it's still not enough, at least when there're chaseable creatures out there just begging to be charged after. Mine have always pretended to be good, and usually are, until they're not, and hit the end of the leash with a sudden (but not totally unexpected) WHAM!

That's on-leash. Off-leash? Fuggedaboutit. They'll catch up to me later with their tongues down to their ankles.

Western Kansas and eastern Colorado.... driving with no human company (I had the animals and my husband had the kids) on an unfamiliar two lane highway pushing 70 mph... with a cattle hauler on your bumper, wanting to go 90. Fun trip. Next hurricane evacuation, we went directly to Colorado instead of going to Oklahoma first.

Well, when Mocha was young we tried our best to do all the right things...took her to PetSmart and Petco so she could see and meet other people and dogs, she went through puppy classes where she saw and interacted with other dogs, we took her to meet the neighbors, took her to the park where she saw plenty of people riding bikes, walking, walking their dogs etc...and she was fine until one day she wasn't. If I remember right, it was somewhere between the time she was 1 1/2 and 2. It was like she woke up one day and decided she didn't like other dogs anymore.
And yeah, if we see deer and they take off, her natural instinct is to give chase. If they stand there and look at us, she'll do the same, stand there and check them out.

These are beautiful shots. You have a good eye for detail.
