BRRRR! I hate it!

Exactly zero degrees Fahrenheit... 3 inches of snow... I hate this!

Trying to get my man to go to the store and he's giving me push back.

Guess I am going to have to break out the cattle prod. LOL

I am teasing. If he doesn't want to go, we will only have 1 small piece of leftover meatloaf and 2 potatoes.

My plan was to make spaghetti sauce.

:wink2:

melbrod 01-07-2017 11:49 AM

Youíd be amazed at how far you can stretch a little dried pasta, a few end pieces of bread and one can of soup LOL.....grocery shopping is a PITA as far as Iím concerned, especially in bad weather--canít say I blame your guy.

I've got a fully stocked larder, thankfully. What I don't have is heat. It went out at about 8:00 last night. We are waiting for the technician to show up. FYI, on the Texas gulf coast, temperatures in the twenties are freaking cold. It's warmed up to 32 right now, but it's going to be down into the low to mid twenties again tonight.

StrykersPerson 01-07-2017 12:07 PM

He is such a good guy! He went! But, he pretended to put his foot down and say he wasn't planning on going to town. LOL

He's so sweet!

:x

I would relish 32 degrees. Stop being a trouble maker.

>:)

Blimey, that's cold. :cold1:

Thankfully, we don't experience temps like that over here. We moan when it gets to 0C (32F), I don't know how you cope with it.

I spent 24 years in the Muskogee area, and have been down here in SE Texas for the past 25 years. Believe me when I say that I am colder at 32 degrees here than I was at 0 degrees in Oklahoma.

Muskogee is currently at 18, by the way. Didn't check Guthrie.

Can you check the earthquakes as well?

Wait until STJ chimes in. He's in a colder location than me.

Ah, wouldn't it be nice to have a bit of snow though? Frankly the ice and fog are getting just boring now! :grin2:

Yeah, one winter I spent Christmas break camping in the Rockies--it got down to -10 at night but warmed a bit during the day--probably to 10 or 15 degrees anyway. I was dressed for it and we had decent sleeping bags. Definitely cold, but not too terrible.

Then went to visit the SOís grandmother in San Antonio--raining and maybe 40, and I was in dress clothes. Never been colder in my life.

When itís close to freezing with high humidity, it is miserable--the cold goes right to your bones and stays there.

How are your kids doing with a cold house, Rosemary?

Probably better than me. Actually, my husband and daughter have gone to a basketball double header, so they aren't even here. It's warmed up to 61 inside (it's 40 outside) between the itty bitty space heater and opening the shades to let some sunshine in. My son is playing with his iPad and blocks, and seems perfectly fine. I'm the one who is freezing.

If the tech doesn't show up, or else can't get it fixed, we are going to get a couple more space heaters. It's supposed to be in the low twenties tonight.

No, not really. Can't stand the stuff. :P

Rosemary 01-07-2017 03:06 PM

My poor, half nekkid birdy is shivering. :(

We are also on the water in South Padre Island. It is in the 30's now. Moose isn't too happy about having to go out to do his business but he is learning the sooner he gets it over with, the sooner we can go inside. :) Hope your heater gets fixed today.

Darkevs 01-07-2017 06:03 PM

spring is coming.

I just put in my seed order.

:)

even though it is cold and snowy here right now.

spring is coming.

we are gaining 2 and a half minutes of daylight a day.

spring is coming.

I think.....

I get such a chuckle when people are cold at 32 degrees or 20 degrees. Day before yesterday, the five coldest cities in the WORLD, were in Wyoming. 62 below in Laramie (and that wasn't a wind chill factor) I think Cheyenne topped out at 32 or 38 below. I had 8 inches of snow (which I could measure on the level. Unheard of in this state) Got down into the 30 belows too. I had swept the ground at the bottom of my deck steps so I could see where the steps ended and ground began. A little 4x4 spot. And that is where SE peed for a week. I put her coat on and she would run to the fence line and do her other business. But she was holding up two feet by the time she got back to the house. I already wish winter was over and it has just begun. Have a skidsteer coming over tomorrow (Sunday) to dig out the yard. 8 in isn't real bad. But it melts then freezes and then it is nothing but an ice skating rink after that. And I don't want it around until June. That's what it was last year.

What optimism. LOVE IT!

Rosemary 01-07-2017 09:58 PM

Oh wind, if Winter comes, can Spring be far behind? or some such.

melbrod 01-08-2017 01:49 AM

The trumpet of a prophecy! :)

But I had to look that piece up.

Not yet... :|

We are wishing our lives away.

Why is summer so short?

StrykersPerson 01-08-2017 07:59 AM

They are forecasting ice for next weekend.

Lovely!

Wait... nine continuous months is "short"?

We were running the AC last week, and will probably need it again by the middle of this week.

StrykersPerson 01-08-2017 10:17 AM

Stop rubbing it in.:|

I hate cold.
