The Obama Justice(?) Department is still on the march to take control of local police departments thru consent decrees (see my previous post on the Ferguson PD). First they charge the local law with racial bias or police brutality (no proof needed) then they enter into a consent decree (no local consent needed, only a decree) then they appoint a DOJ flunky with no law enforcement experience to oversee the police.

Baltimore, Maryland PD is now another victim, but the local politicians there will not even stand up for the thin blue line. They will be coming for your local PD; You will lose control of your local law enforcement and you will pay the bill for implementation of the consent decree. Beware! The election of Mrs Clinton will only bring more of this.

Support your local police.

Blue lives matter.

A Justice Department investigation found that the Baltimore Police Department engages in unconstitutional practices that lead to disproportionate rates of stops, searches and arrests of African-Americans, and excessive use of force against juveniles and people with mental health disabilities.
The Department of Justice monitored the department's policing methods for more than a year at the request of the Baltimore Police Department, after the 2015 death of Freddie Gray, who suffered a fatal injury while in police custody.

The long-awaited report, which covered data from 2010 to 2016, attributed the practices to "systemic deficiencies" in training, policies, and accountability structures that "fail to equip officers with the tools they need to police effectively."

So yeah, go ahead and blame Obama.... Sheesh.

No just another Democrat controlled city is joining the list of failed cities. When a federalized police does wrong who do you blame...oh that right republicans for not offering more money to a failed system.

@ dobermama.

FYI. Using enlarged bold type, contrary to what you believe, does not strengthen your position or POV. In fact, for many of us who regularly interact on discussion forums, it is perceived more along the lines of a child's temper tantrum. You know... Louder is is better. Nothing could be further from the truth. Colored type is way more appropriate.

Not exactly blaming Obama for specific events--but am definitely blaming him for adding to the tensions and even egging them on by his comments. Why are racial tensions worse since the man who was supposed to bring us together took office?

About the police--figures suggest fatal shootings by cops may be up by 6% (of course, these figures do not report which of these shootings were necessary and justified, which were judgement mistakes and if any were truly racially motivated.)

While the shooting OF cops is up 44%. And some of those were definitely, no question, done in cold-blooded execution style AND racially motivated.

The climate of the country is different. And in race matters, yes, I do blame Obama for tacitly encouraging these actions with his ill-judged comments.

Was in a hurry and didn't want to hunt for color- just quickly picked flicked on the size arrow and that is what it did. Not a temper tantrum, just fast reply. Wanted to make that part stick out- since they DID request the service and you often tell me that my posts are too long so folks may not read them all

This one is easy- racial tensions are worse in response to the huge backlash of racists and constant Obama bashing (by same racists) as soon as he took office. I know that many of you say that you are NOT racist, and that your hatred of him is because of "X, Y, Z"- but the very fact that your hatred is so deep, strong and vehement- when he really is not much different from any other past president except for being socially more progressive... Well, that pretty much screams RACISM to many of us. The way he was attacked IMMEDIATELY after taking office (before he even had a chance to do anything) also backs that up.

I know that it is in my home state- they are quite blatant about it. So yes, tensions are higher, and No, I do not personally think Obama is at all to blame. Blame the racists, the system of militarized police that use racial profiling (read that report on Baltimore- REALLY sums it up), and a country that doesn't have jobs or infrastructure resulting in a lot of abject poverty, drug abuse and desperation..

White racism is such convenient answer for failing liberal social policies and the current state of things. Yep, totally. Nobody just dislikes Obama for what he's done, it's just because he's half black. Dislike for him has nothing to do with lack of economic growth or huge deficit he's created or foreign policy that's led to thousands of preventable deaths from terrorist attacks here and abroad. Coincidentally these are the two issues American voters care about the most this election.

At the request of a liberal mayor and a liberal police commissioner. If there really was a problem it should have been handled locally. I would hate to be a police officer there.

Support your local police. Keep them independent.

I’m tired of “Nothing to see folks. Move on.” Sorry, but anyone who is looking at this fairly would see that Hillary is guilty of a lot of self-serving sleazy behavior, and out and out lying, and is not a suitable candidate for the Presidency. Trump is a “who knows” candidate, but I think it is pretty plain what Hillary would do, looking at her previous behavior. Not acceptable to me.

I am very tired of being called racist because I have the temerity to oppose Obama. I disliked him from the beginning, yes--because I didn’t like the slate he was running on--“Hope and change” without ever being specific about what his hope for the country was and what change he thought was necessary to bring his vision about. He swept a lot of gullible people along with just that phrase. Who isn’t for "Hope and Change”?? The people he had prior associations with espoused ideas I didn’t agree with. What I knew about his voting record (such as it was) while he was in the Illinois congress did not impress me.

I was also offended by Mrs. Obama’s job as Vice President for Community and External Affairs (highly paid--$316,000 when she was working full time) at the University of Chicago's Medical Center. The job was so important they didn’t even bother to replace her when she left. This job coincided with Barack being elected to US Senate--how convenient--U of C looking for influence, you think?

I worked at the U of C’s medical center for about 6 months (before Mrs. Obama was there) and I can says that the place was an absolute hell-hole with poorly educated staff (basically high school graduates for college degree jobs). I know of several major mistakes (malpractice) made during the little time I was there. I left the job as quickly as possible.

Perhaps the money spent on Mrs. Obama's publicity/influence job could have been used to hire qualified people.

you are being called a racist because you were born white , so accept this and do not question this theory or you will be shouted down...this is the indoctrination that the youth have submitted themselves to.

@Alan

Yup. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between. My son is a millennial. 33 yo.
As a child growing up his best friends were, for the most part, African Americans.

A large portion of his social contemporaries still feel that they are "owed" an existence. Ugh!

Today, Noah owns his own successful company, owns his beautiful house and his 2 trucks are totally payed for. He and his wife (who have been together since high school) are expecting their first child in early October. They waited until they felt that they could provide a quality life for a kid. His wife is in nursing school. She already has job offers upon graduation.

Neither of us have ever "Felt the Bern" or wished for "Hope and Change". IMO.... You take the ball that you have been tossed and run with it. If one gets off their ass, the options are limitless

BTW, he is also a Doberman owner and a Life Member of the NRA (Shudder...).

What the hell has happened to this world?

Reread my comment and would hate for anyone to think that I was implying the my son's black friends were the "slackers".

Quite the contrary. The kids that were trouble ended up falling out of his life. The current ones do quite well. The contemporary "slackers" that I was talking about are all middle class white kids from decent 2 parent homes. Its quite sad.

"Hillary Clinton is enlisting undocumented “Dreamers” into a new voter registration drive aimed at signing up sympathetic voters with warnings that Donald Trump’s immigration plans could result in their deportation – though the Dreamers themselves cannot legally vote....

Organizers will remind voters that a Trump presidency would end the Dreamer program, according to the campaign, which is already at risk after a June Supreme Court effectively killed Obama's efforts to give legal status to some of the 11 million immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.”

This irritates the heck out of me. Any other comments?

Don't get me started. I can't stand either looking at her or listening to her. She is disgusting. And now that Bill (whom I actually had a certain amount of respect for) seems to have entered medium stage Alzheimer's and just wants to live out his life in peace, playing 9 holes of golf every few days, I never want to see a Clinton again. That includes little Minnie Me, Chelsea. A criminal work in progress.

If Clinton does get elected, however, I will send her a box of cigars, just to satisfy my warped sense of humor.

I think we are well past the thresh-hold of being in a banana republic. I like Donald but i keep having this vision of him showing up one day with a chest covered in medals and mirrored glasses!

Donald Trump is far from the perfect candidate, but he is much better than Mrs. Clinton.

Trump will protect our borders; She will not.
Trump will appoint conservative justices to the Supreme Court; She will not.
Trump will support the 2nd Amendment; she will not.
Trump will support our local police; she will not.
Trump will cut taxes and regulations, and support the free market; she will not.
Trump will support our military; she will not.
Trump will support religious liberty (the 1st Amendment); she will not.

Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives.

______John Adams, letter to Benjamin Rush, April 18, 1808

Trump's border protection involved a supposed wall paid for by Mexico- very much doubt THAT is going to happen. And increased vetting of immigrants, nothing concrete there, just questionaires and stuff to figure out how they feel about America. Yup, that should work...

Yes to the conservative justice, which is why I personally hope he is the loser in the election. Conservatism= fear, hate and prejudice against too many of our fellow Americans, and the time for such fear/hate is I am hoping OVER.

The 2nd Amendment argument is pretty absurd. It takes 2/3 of BOTH houses of Congress to change the Constitution- and then it is sent to the states, 3/4 of which must vote to affirm. Seriously folks- Obama isn't taking your guns, and neither is anybody else. LET IT GO already...

How exactly is Trump going to support police? Never heard him say one whit about them. Or is it that white supremacy is going to return, thus allowing them to continue with the racial profiling and improper training that have led to the current messes? Our police force is currently broken, it is true- but I seriously doubt the deranged cheetoh has any ideas on how to fix it (well, he might have "great ideas" if I "believe him"). But he doesn't, and I don't.

Trump will have tax breaks that benefit TRUMP and other corporate types like him- exactly like Hillary. He also will continue to send his jobs overseas at an alarming rate and pretty much be identical to every other politician you all claim he is so different from. Make America Great Again hats- where are those made again??? Give ya a hint- NOT America.

Trump will help the military- really? The guy who dodged service repeatedly suddenly cares about our folks who SERVE. Nope, sorry- think you are being fed a line here. In fact, the Republican record for troop support is pretty piss poor except when it comes to sending our troops to fight.

Once they return broken, damaged, jobless and homeless it seems like that support dries right up. Examples are many but include Veterans Affairs Funding Bill (2015), Women Vet & Families Health Services Act (2014), Homeless Women Veterans and Homeless Vets with Children Act (2010), etc.. all KILLED by GOP due to cost. Send em to fight and hope they don't come back seems to be the motto, sadly...

Guess I did not hit quote this was to Grayghost

And what makes you think Trump will do all of that ?

With Hillery you know what you are getting and its not good.

With Trump you have no clue what deals he will do Might be good might be bad but if his ideas are bad you can bet he will have a hell of a time getting them though the Congress I doubt even any good things he tries will get pushed though without major deals.

There is no chance I would Vote for the She Devil but lets not go crazy and say we know what Trump stands for.

In the past he was anti A2 his kids have changed his public view on that by being Pro A2 but he is a born and bread New Yorker so I bet he would smash A2 stuff just to get something he wants passed.

Tell the A2 guys in states like California and New York not to worry about getting there guns taken. Heck look at what they tried when New Orleans was flooded.

The only reason we have not lost our Gun rights is the Supreme Court has had 5 Conservative Justices.
