Hello again my Doberman friends!

4 days ago, I took my six month old Dobe’s posts out because she was yelping Whenever I touched either of her ears. There was obvious pain. When I took the posts out, there was some pus and stink, but I didn’t see any visible sores. So I decided to let everything air out for a few days and keep them clean. The first 2 days, they were standing great! As of yesterday, They started to sag a bit, but I couldn’t worry about it because I had an appointment out of town. Today they look like this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/188431385@N04/50196470558/in/dateposted/
Is there any hope that continued posting will help this? Her ears are still sensitive when I clean them, but now I’m tempted to repost. Please help!

If you continue to post the ears should stand--not all crops and not all ears are created equal. But her ears in the picture look like ears that just haven't been posted long enough.

About the infection and pain and posting--if you've had much hot weather and/or humidity you should probably not be posting the ears for longer than 3 days before taking them down and cleaning them, to avoid infection. Or the alternative, since it's pretty clear the bases are still standing well is to not do a full post where the base of the post in inside the ear canal but a half post instead--I think there are instructions and pictures on the ear posting section of the Puppy Forum. The half post sits on the little bump in the ear (above the base) only works well if the bases are already standing but is a solution where it is the upper part of the ear that still needs support.

Looks like it would work for your girl.

Good luck.
