Ok, so I admin it, this inst about doberman ears.. but I'm stuck and figure doberman people probably know enough about ear posting to shed some light
I have had two cropped dobermans previously and had good success with posting them. I brought home a min pin at the beginning of the month with cropped ears and the taping seems to be a new ballgame for me.
The breeder sent me home with a home made ear post/brace using hockey tape an piano wire. Its almost like an upside down U that sits in the ears and separates them. In the end she said to use breathe right nasal strips to keep things nice during the last week or two when very little support is needed. The way she has shown me is that ear post does not go deep into the ear the way a dobermans does. It starts just above the little outward bump in the ear canal (looks like a small popcorn inside the ear). My puppies ears were actually standing prior to her crop so getting them to stand is no problem. After posting for a few weeks her ears are now tilting inward. She has just started teething also.
As far as I can see there are no pockets, but her ears are so tiny, its hard to tell.. and with no putting the post deep into the ear, I don't know how to tackle the problem. I switched to the breathe right strips glued with torbot inside the ear, from the little popcorn bit to the tip. I thought this would pull her ears down a little but when shes very alert they tilt inward and touch in the middle.
There are 1000's of resources for doberman posting, a little for pitbull and danes, but I cannot find any resources for min pin ears...
Is anyone experienced or have some ideas?
Thank you in advance!
