Warnings ??

I keep getting a flash drive warning from this site - sometimes it has a very loud sound that goes with it . I called my internet provider and they did a remote virus check along with things that can go bang in the dark - , they did do a update on one driver and said I'm good to go - no bugs . They said there may be some malware or something going on at DT , I have got 5 of them so far today . I also did a scan and a long scan and it all comes back OK .

So tech , what is going on ?

btw - when it pops up then the only way to get it gone is to X out and start over , took 3 attempts to get on this morning .

Thanks !

Ken

Interesting. I haven't encountered anything like that so far.

Neither have I but in the past I've gotten (all before I got real internet and not dial up), mostly when I was using the library, messages that said I was calling up an address that might not be safe--dial up wouldn't load anything from the internet at all often.

Hey Doc,

Is it Adobe Flash Player that is popping up as the issue?

On similar related issue - I have been getting popups of Norton Antivirus has expired - ransom ware warning...On this site and on Zillow. No other sites so far. One time it was McAfee warning. I also ran my virus scanner and Malwarebytes - all show good. Cleared cache, etc...When popped up I looked at programs running and services but didn't see anything that jumped out.

My suggestion, depending on the browser you're using, is to download addons: Ghostery, Adblock Plus, and Adblock. They kill most weird popups.

type into your browser "adobe flash player help" this will take you to the Adobe site and follow the instruction to insure that the message you are getting is real chances are it is not.
You will also find many videos on you tube about this issue you may find one that will help resolve this.

Doc - Is this a similar warning window you are getting?

If so - I have been for trying last day to get it to pop up again. I have noticed that when not logged in and the advertisements are up is when it seems I get the pop-up. Today I logged out then clicked on an advertisement....a site I knew. Within minutes I got the pop-up. Similar to Zillow - I accidently clicked on one.

Just supposition not concrete....

With loading of screens - if not patient can click wrong.

I did not get the loud sound you mention.

Nope, never got anything like this here. Or anywhere else. Odd.

I would say of the 10 or so times I have had this popup - 9 of them say Norton - which I do not have. One time when I was on Zillow - it said McAfee - which I do have....but know that either case they are scams of sorts. So I just close out Edge and open up again.

I haven't had the problems Doc is having with getting back on. Doc perhaps try deleting your browser cache and history - causes some pain with having to relog or type usernames etc...

Which browser are you using? Edge, IE, Firefox, Chrome? Also if you have multiple...as I have Edge, IE, and Firefox does it happen with all of them or just one?

Don't use Edge. It's a trash browser. Internet Explorer isn't much better. Consider Opera, Firefox, or Chrome.

I have never used Opera but Firefox and Chrome I have. Currently using Firefox now as typing this. There is quite a bit of difference as far as what is shown on the sides of this page and other pages vs. Edge...

So I would also try using Firefox or other as Fal says Doc and see if that helps.

Kenny,

I had problems with Firefox--and one of the sites I had the biggest problems with was Doberman Talk. But that was quite awhile ago.

So I went back to Explorer but was still on dial up--when I finally got real internet service--I switched to Chrome--I'd had problems again with Firefox (when I was going to the library )and using their computers--it gave me lots of messages about how this, that and the other site wasn't safe.

Try that one--it seems to be the most trouble free of the browsers I've tried.
