Okay, I know I thought I'd like white background because it would make browsing at work less noticeable, but...it is really, really hard on my eyes. Is there any chance of this changing, or do I need to just get used to it? I'm not going to use the old skin, since as a mod, I want to be seeing what new users, etc., are seeing...

Actually, now when I come online, or enter the Doberman 'room' - it makes me wonder where I am because the first thing I see is like a big screen tv with unfamiliar images.
Yesterdays was a huge image of what looked like a very shaggy unknown dog trying to throw up....I don't know, shucks, I guess I just like the old home.

So your username should be a gold color? Just want to make sure I understand before I try and fix.

And John, I tried to pm you and found that the new look just kicks me out of the pm screen if I try to post anything...dagnabit!
At what stage do you get kicked out of PM's? When you are trying to send a message, or out of the inbox? Sent you a test PM.

We could see about adding a Dark skin to the site, or we could look into altering this one. What would you prefer?

I'm a Bronze member but don't use the extras (too lazy/too techno dumb!) - I figured it is a small donation to help a forum that has so much good info that I DO use.

Exactly.. I think I've used the PM's a couple of times.. however the little bit of 'donation' is well worth it.. if only to see the pups grow up and admire some of the incredible photos the members post.. It's not easy to moderate even a small group on Facebook.. I can only imagine what it's like here.. Well done mods.. and admins.. but .. I still HATE the new format..

I was on the GSD forum a little bit ago for the first time in ages. Why couldn't you have given us the same color scheme that you used there? It's so much easier on the eyes than the jarring, high-contrast red on white here.

Something neutral and mid-toned would work well IMO. The brown/tan was great but maybe a grey/dark grey combo or light blue/dark blue as we've had in the past?

My preference would be black text (same as current) on a very light blue/grey background (currently white) with darker blue lines (in place of red), and mid to dark grey lines (in place of black).

I don’t know if this has anything to do with your new format, but recently I’ve been getting a fair number of “Can’t find the server” pages when I try to post and then when I try to repost the text immediately, I get “this is a duplicate post" from DT--and sure enough, the post is displayed on the thread already (sometimes twice).

I use Safari on a Macbook Air. Perhaps this is a browser problem? but just wanted to mention it.

@ Mel

"I use Safari on a Macbook Air. Perhaps this is a browser problem? but just wanted to mention it."

I also use Safari (9.0.3) also on a Macbook Air (OS 10.9.5). When they first switched over to the new system, I had nothing but problems, every time I turned around. Hell, I couldn't even log in.... And it was only on this forum. Since then, all of my issues have cleaned up. I did return to the "classic" skin to save my eyes and and turned off all the extraneous crap that I could.

Thank you for responding to my complaint. I will try your suggestions if this happens again as it hasn't since.

Colors...I vote for the ones we had before, brown and light brown/tan.

The new site is painfully slow when I'm on my laptop or PC but as soon as I switch to the classic, it speeds up. I do not want to use another browser. Using IE 11 and Win7. Not a big deal as I rarely use the full site but thought I would mention it.

I use the PG Free app on my iPhone most of the time. Working fine except there is no option to thank a post. I've asked a few times and it still isn't there. Please add that option.

What kind of problem specifically? If there's something that you can describe to us and we are able to replicate this, we'll get someone on this.

I use Safari on a Macbook Air. Perhaps this is a browser problem? but just wanted to mention it.
You can try to clear browser cache and cookies to see if that shows up again, if it does, we might need to get a screen shot of the error message. Was there anything else other than that?

Was this when only when you tried to post something? and where. Did you open the thread from a tab that you saved on the forum?

In regards to slowness, there are a lot of reasons why the forum could be slow, it can even be browser related. Try clearing your cache and cookies. Then if it's still slow, give us some specific information on where and when you noticed the site was at it's slowest.
There should also be a loading status located at the bottom of the page to the left, let us know what it is always waiting on.

Let's make this upgrade a better experience by helping each other out.
