4x4, I'm with you on that.

I switched back to the Classic skin because my brain was getting over stimulated and my eyes were getting fatigued!

The new site seems to be have more ads and very sluggish when typing in replies (like some sites with that annoying predictive text).

Also, I like having the Home Webpage be the "Active Topics" page, not the Forum categories, for returning members. New visitors would benefit from being directed to the Forum Category page, however.

I believe the "Classic" color theme could be applied to the new web design which would make it much easier to read, because red text on a bright white background is just not legible!! (or offer a color theme selection option)

The good features: The emoticons load quick and have a much larger selection (455)!

Heya all,

We can tweak the colors, some settings, and will get the permissions issues figured out first thing in the am.

Thanks for the understanding, I will address all comments/questions/bugs tomorrow also.

LOL forget the tweaking. Just ditch the entire "fugly" format.

Thanks to iceman I can now see and read DT.

Well, I for one was really excited to see a new format when I logged on this morning. An update was long overdue! Love the new banner. I agree the new red/white colour scheme is a bit jarring but that is something that can be fixed...patience y'all. Three cheers for being able to drag and drop photos! No more of this nonsense of having to upload them to a third party site first...thank the good Lord. And having a more mobile friendly site sounds fantastic. Can't wait to see how the site functions once all the bugs are worked out. Thanks tech team!

You saved me the trouble of writing because I had the same feelings. lol.

I loved the old look it was so much easier on the eyes. I actually stopped going to another Doberman forum after their new look change- it wasn't as easy to be on.

RED Boarders & some text - Yuck !!

I've got other Internet tabs open / watching "Dan Pena - The 50 Billion Dollar Man | London Real" & DT loads a new Toyota ad.
- not I got to find the popup and "page back" to turn the darn it off / just frustrating
I now own 2 Toyota's - a used 4Runner and a RAV4, both of which are mint.
Not in the market for a new vehicle...BS.

Finally, the Doberman banner with 4 cropped dogs.
- couldn't find or add a natural dobe plus a cute puppy face...really

Have to add my input here as a fairly new member. I really commend you on trying out a redesign (I was in fact wondering when you were going to do so). But the previous design was much easier to navigate and I never encountered any bugs.

As of now, I keep getting logged out and being told that I don't have permission to "thank" a poster. When I do manage to thank a post, the page keeps getting refreshed for no reason and I have to scroll back to the post each time.

Also, the home page looks pretty bad and the site in general looks too busy - plus huge ads are popping up and I have to scroll down a long time before I get to the content of the page.

I'm sorry you're getting negative feedback for this. I know we'll get used to the design in time, but I think the most pressing issues now are the bugs.

Thanks for your hard work!

Day two and I switched back to the old format. While many of the new features are greatly appreciated (yay drag and drop photos) the overall formatting is a mess, it's not streamlined to me but instead clunky with all the well known easy to access features now hidden, and the color scheme, well you already know. I also heavily dislike the home page, while this is a pet-guide owned site it should be our stuff we are seeing at the home page (active topics, stickied threads, etc...) not adds about carpet cleaner, huge turn off.
I also am disappointed in the banner, I really thought there would be more of a showcase of our breed: head shots, full body stacked shots, natural ears, all natural, fully cropped/docked, puppies, maybe even an agility shot or IPO scene etc... more of a classy collage of dobermans being dobermans.

Overall Summation:

Pros:
Drag and drop photos
Streamlined toolbar (forums, topics, etc...)

Cons:
Poor formatting
Ads and unrelated topics on home page
side toolbar (hate it!)
lack of active topics/stickies on home page as a great lead in for newbies and an easy access point for senior members.

I am not trying to be another negative voice, because I truly do know how much work it is to overhaul an entire website but while an update is nice maybe not such a huge change would have been better!

Tried the new format again this AM. Nope. still can't handle it. Too high contrast for me. I have sensory issues (certain sights, sounds, or touches bother me), and I could feel myself starting to shake. Went back to DT Classic.

I find the red/white/black way too contrast-y and hard for me to read (I have astigmatism and am prone to migraines).

Looks like the new forum software has not gone down well with majority of the members..

People have to understand this is not just an upgrade of a software to a new version..

It is a completely different forum software by a different company..so it will have differences to the old one.

I have to admit,i also prefer the old VBulletin version, but given some time i am sure everyone will get used to it..

I won't pass judgement<G> Thanks for all your hard work guys! It is a massive undertaking to upgrade any site, much less a forum!

I do kinda miss the colored background, not terribly sure about the stark white with red and black, but maybe that's just me!

I agree thank you for the hard work. It is hard on the eyes and keeps me from being on too long (perhaps a good thing?) Also, I keep getting this error when I try to thank people

Gretchen_Red, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1.Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I see others have posted about this issue but I didn't see where they posted what exactly they have been told.

I don't mind the white background, but agree that the stark contrast is very hard on the eyes.

I have always liked to come sit down at the pc when I got a break from whatever I was busy doing, and check on the DT forum. It always relaxed me.
Now when I open it I get a maze of commercial ads and the site is still confusing and very busy.
I am getting grumpy.....
I still have hope this will get easier for me.

Maybe it's because I'm getting old or it's because I'm incredibly thick but what is the difference between the "like" & "Thanks" button? Is it something to do with Bookface?

Not only is there no natural dobe or puppy there is no blue or fawn dobe on there either. You could have represented the breed in the banner better than you have.

Private messages--I finally found the message in the quick reply box toward the bottom of the page--off my original screen, in fact (I have a little MacBook Air with a not so big screen.) The box is so small it would be hard to read a lengthy message. I would have expected the message at the top of the page in the blank spot beside the sender’s info. Also there is a funky little sidebar on the right with the message repeated lengthwise--on my screen that message is off the page too and I have to scroll over to it (normally your whole display fits on my screen perfectly.) When I do, the bar is so narrow it just has one or two words on each line. A bit strange.

I’ll send you guys a PM and you can see if the format repeats for you.

Other than that, I’m finding my way around as I work with it--some improvements, I think. It just takes some getting used to.

I think the Thanks thing is fixed now. At least, I’m no longer getting the “You have no access” page when I try to thank someone.

A couple of times when I tried to edit this post, I was taken to the page which explains the different kinds of membership and the text on the original thread turned up in red and hyperlinked (as folks said below)?? but not every time. When I refresh the screen it goes to a normal display.

I now own 2 Toyota's - a used 4Runner and a RAV4, both of which are mint.
Not in the market for a new vehicle...BS.

Finally, the Doberman banner with 4 cropped dogs.
- couldn't find or add a natural dobe plus a cute puppy face...really

Not only is there no natural dobe or puppy there is no blue or fawn dobe on there either. You could have represented the breed in the banner better than you have.

There is a cluster of 4 or 5 puppies in the banner actually, HOWEVER if you are on mobile you won't see them, the wrong type of format will cut it off right after the black/tan young dog looking forward, mouth shut.

p.s. dobeadmin
My drag and drop photo feature does not work, nothing happens or it just hyperlinks, I am still having to upload to the site or use a third party....

Also, as I use the new format right now....random peoples text comes through as all red and hyperlinked
