I can't quote either. I can use that link you posted and it takes me there. I no longer have like button but when I did earlier it took me to a page saying I was not authorized.

For all those who find the new white background look too bright

go to User CP > Edit Options > scroll to the bottom of he page where it says "Miscellaneous Options" > forum skin drop down menu select Dobermantalk.com classic

and you should have the old look..

@Admin
Is there any way the bright white background colour can be changed to a softer light colour and the headers from bright red to something softer?

At least if forum software allows it make this an option for those who prefer less brighter screen..

by the way...User CP is not updating "received reputation"

Thank you for the tip! Much easier on the eyes and going back to the 'classic' looks brings back the user friendly aspect.

I was going to simply Thank you, but I got, "Kansadobe, you do not have permission to access this page." for a reply.

The only problem I have with that is that it then defeats the purpose of the update if we all just want to use the old one.... and that's just a general note not a negative comment to you specifically.

I'm toughing it out with the new one for today to see if I can adjust but think i'll revert to the old one again as well. This new one is just very bright and not quite what I expected as far as an update/upgrade.

While I get what you're saying, the new colors, the new lay out are imho not user friendly. Granted i'm currently accessing only through mobile. I just found it overly difficult.

While I am ok with change, I dislike change, simply for the sake of change.

4x4Bike ped said it's not accepting his user name or password so he can't log on at all. Can someone reach out to him via his email address? Or if someone wants to PM me I could also give you his cell number, I assume he wouldn't mind if I did that just once.

Done--and he’s back on the forum. Melbrod

I am like my cat - I struggle with change. That being said, I force myself to adapt. I have been struggling with this all day.
Jeff, you ask earlier if I would explain why I was having trouble. I wrote a lengthy reply and sent it off. It never appeared!
Many of my 'Thanks' earlier would not appear and said I needed authorization.
There are myriad of ads I have to wade through.
I have been kicked off three times.
It is unfriendly to me, also, but I realize these things take time.
I liked the color scheme of the old format. It was pleasing and warm, inviting and classy.
On this first day, I have to say it is not faster. It is slower.
I am sure these things will be ironed out as you go along.
Wanted to say that I have had to back out and sign in and save info several times to go and say what I wanted to.
Thanks for your work and for trying to make it updated.
Crossing my fingers this post goes through.....

Trying to get used to the new layout but I generally agree with the others that it is too bright and not user friendly so here are my complaints

-Way too bright for those of us that suffer with migraines and headaches. I'd suggest either a monochromatic dark gray or brown page with the colourful bar on top and red accents(I think the red wouldn't be nearly as offensively bright on a darker page), or a light gray page with top bar and dark brown/tan instead of the red accents. Or offering light/med/dark skins that complement the new layout instead of giving us only this option or the old version. Giving the old version as an option will probably just make everyone switch back over.

-Clicking the top bar doesn't bring you back to the home page and instead goes directly to the forums. Not a fan...

-I think the new home page is eh. I liked the old home page that told you the current happenings on the page first, not the current posts of petguide.com . Perhaps putting the sitenews on as the focus, with much smaller pics to link over to the petguide blog, maybe three horizontally to give page a sort of divider.

-I do appreciate the side bar with the most recent postings though I did prefer the old way of having them be neat on the home page. That being said, I don't like the fact that there's no way to skip directly to last page/post in the thread from the sidebar/homepage.

-I'm a bit confused as to how a thread gets to the popular threads list on the homepage. There isn't much correlation between them and they're in no real order. There's varying amount of comments on threads and different times and none of it makes sense......when talking about popular threads, the first one that comes to mind it the collarholics thread since it's so expansive and one of the most often updated threads..and it doesn't make an appearance.

--This one might be a bit nit-picky but the entire site seems a bit...off. Like, I totally get wanting to update the website to a cleaner, crisper, more modern website but it's a bit wonky. While the colour choices weren't the best, I did feel like they helped modernize everything. But the top banner completely clashes with them. A red based graphic, maybe abstract, banner would have tied things together.
--If you do want to keep the current banner the way it is, I'd suggest sticking to blue/green accents. Dark olive green would be much easier on the eyes and tie the banner to the page.

I absolutely do not like the new format, aside from the banner. It's very hard to read. I could go on and on. It needs to go back to the former threads. Much easier to navigate. I've done this post twice now and got nowhere because the site does not recognize me. We'll see this time.

Now I'm back to the new format even though the classic format is checked in my options!!

I really don't like this new one. It is way too bright for me and hurts my eyes.

ETA. After fiddling with the skins options about 4 times I'm now back to the classic format which works much better for me.

I think it's difficult to see the "like" as it's very tiny and up right under the post, as opposed to the large "edit" "quote" "thanks" etc...

No issues so far. I went back to the classic view as I am not ready for the switch! lol. But the new layout did look nice and clean

Thanks for all the hard work!!

Hey everyone,

We will continue to address the issues on the new look and features of the site. Right now, our team has gone home to sleep for the night (yes, they do sleep ) so please be patient with us as we go through this process. We'll work out the kinks in due time.
