Hand Me Down Dobes, Inc.

An old high school classmate of mine just got his Dobe from Hand Me Down.

If I still lived in Ohio, I'd be bugging the crap out of them to let me help!

This is my third Dobe Rescue "Dior" he's wonderful!! He is my third Dobe Rescue, they all have been wonderful!!! He had been starved he is almost to his correct weight so his spine isn't showing anymore!! How can these dogs be so forgiving?
I have also rescue Poms - they all have been wonderful too!!!!
They all have been beautiful & well behaved

MAKES YOU WONDER HOW & WHY THEY EVER ENDED UP IN A RESCUE SITUATION!!??

TOO BAD MORE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE MORALS OF DOGS!!!!

Actually, the DPCA has a NEW website for rescue (and a nice one at that!)

conformation indicates what the animal appears to be;

This is where we got our Rusty and we have met a few people at the DP that have gotten their rescues from Jane. She is very knowledgable in the dobie world and as all people in the rescue world she has a HUGE heart.

black male with natural ears

We rescued a 14 month old male doberman that was schedule to be put down from a shelter in Smith Co. Texas.
He goes by the name PILOT, he has natural ears and is still in tact.
Pilot is great with kids and other FEMALE animals. He has issues with other males and especially those with a full coat (ie. GSD, Afghans, etc)

Hi,
My husband and I live in Northern Jersey. We've had four dobermans over the last 20 years. Our female passed this Aug. at the age of 8, and my boy Parker this Jan. at the age of six. We're heart broken. I've always gotten my dogs from breeders. I'd like to adopt this time. We're looking for a young male adult maybe up to 2 years. would like to give a dog a forever home. At this point a pupwould be fine as well. I've already checked Petfinder.

Hi All!

My fiance and I want to start volunteering at a Dobe rescue. I was raised around Dobes, both of which my mom rescued after they were given up by owners who couldn't afford health care. Steph on the other hand has never been around Dobes and would love to get to know the breed better. Are there any good rescues in the Indianapolis area?

Thanks in advance!

Important information for Texas pet adopters

Never mind...I just realized I was responding to an old post on this thread and the point is probably moot by now.
Sorry!

I'm actually talking to them right now about adopting a red female. They are a wonderful organization. Next step is a home inspection...I think I'm crazy with a puppy at home who is still driving me bananas on a regular basis! I love him, but boy does he get into everything!!! : ) I'm going to start stealing his food/toys/blankets/towels, etc. to see how he likes it!

Jane Barnes runs this rescue out of Jacksonville-there are a number of people that foster from Jacksonville south to Orlando for this organization-They are an excellent group.. Before they are released to a "forever home" they are evaluated for temperament, and health checked. I have a male and female from them - you couldn't ask for more. I would suggest you check the website out and fill out an application immediately-many of the dogs never make it to the web site-there is a demand and they go through the applications to find a good fit for the dog-Having your application on file will help the process move faster for you. Good Luck

Rescue Elf request

Hi, all you wonderful people -
I am working on creating a database of Rescue groups and contact people for the newly created DT Rescue Elf Squad, to help give rescue and foster Dobes a little something fun to help them adjust. We want to send toys, blankies, treats, sweaters and such to people whose fosters and rescues don't have anything but the basic necessities.

It's still in the development stages - we are thinking maybe we can do 1 or 2 packages a month, but it might be more - depends on what our elves can afford to do.

I'd like to give you my e-mail address, since PM's fill up so fast - this way, you can send me whatever info you have, and also petitions/requests.

Our e-mail is [email protected] and if any of you want to talk "IRL", I'm happy to give you my phone #. Just let me know.

Thanks - Lois (lolonurse)
