Beautiful 14 mo. black/tan girl needs a new home (WA, but I'll travel for right home)

Hi everyone,

I'm new here (hello) and hoping to find a great home for my doberman girl Lucy. This breaks my heart because she's such a wonderful dog but my personal situation changed and I need to rehome her.

Spayed, cropped ears and docked tail, purebred but I don't have papers, housebroken, crate trained, knows sit, stay, shake, down, and I'm still working on leash manners, drop it, and others. She's still a super playful pup who needs an Alpha to continue her training (as well as mental stimulation and exercise!), but she's also a complete sweetheart who will snuggle as often as you let her! She would be amazing with agility training, she runs and leaps like a gazelle and even though she's 55 pounds, she is insanely strong.

Lucy has fear with certain new people (I adopted her at 7 months from people who had rarely socialized her with other people) but she's amazing with ALL kids and any adults she considers "her" people. She also loves other dogs and playing with them.

I'm based in Seattle, WA but will drive out of state for the right home. Please DM me if you're interested or know of someone who is, I'll send pics and more info about both the joys and the challenges of my Lucy girl.

Thank you!!

Rachel

You'd do better to go to your nearest rescue and talk to them about finding a new home for her. They are in a better position than you are to screen prospective owners and put her in the home that is ideal for her.

Asking for adopters on the internet, even in a dedicated doberman forum like this one, is taking a chance. You don't know if the person you are talking to is actually who and what they claim to be.

I do hope she finds a wonderful new forever home.....

Dobe rescue

I suggest you contact Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue, a great organization. They have a dobe rep who may be able to help you.

Great advise posted above - Go threw the inter net and she may end in a dog fighting ring and that would be the end of Lucy !

japeterson is right--Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue is a great organization--it's all breed but in recent years they have tried to make sure they have a rep for various breeds and I'd heard that they now have a Dobe rep.

The vet clinic I work for has used them to refer Oregon residents looking for a rescue since Oregon hasn't had a Dobe rescue in years and since Marty Young of MyDobe Dobermans passed away there hasn't been a Dobe specific rescue in Washington State either.

Good luck....

Thank you so much everyone, really appreciate it. I'm extremely committed to her not being used to fight or breed (getting her spayed next week), and that she go to a GREAT home so I appreciate the advice. I'd heard of SPDR but they'd had mixed reviews online so I was hesitant to reach out, but with two recommends on here for them, I'll do that today!

I've fostered for SPDR and they are good people. I wouldn't hesitate to foster or adopt from them in the future.
