After reading that info I had to double check the foot of my bed to make sure my girl had not escaped and somehow morphed into this Porter..
He is beautiful though and sounds like an incredible dog . wish I was anywhere close to him

I saw Porter today. He is a tall, beautiful goof-ball that's for sure. Full of piss and vinegar as they say. He is off all medication for the mange and starting to put on some weight. Still extremely thin but his coat is looking great He is very long with super long legs, once he fills out he will be a big, gorgeous boy. Military crop on his ears. I would guess he is about a year max, still very puppy-like, hyper, energetic. Just needs some socialization and exercise. It took a while to get his attention so we let him run around and play with another dog for about 45 mins. Once he got his zoomies out of the way he would eventually come, sit, lay down (right away, even stay! He does not have any approved applications on him right now, so still available to the right home. The manager prefers a Doberman experienced owner if at all possible. She knows Dobermans and has their best interest at heart. She said he would definitely benefit from a foster situation as he doesn't present well at the shelter when people come to look.

An update from the Surrey Animal Resource Centre on Porter:

"Porter has inherited idiopathic episodic head tremors (but that’s just a fancy way to say he has partial focal seizures.) Sheena saw one happen this morning – full nystagmus and everything. She's going to do a FB post on the shelters page to draw some attention to him. Please continue to share his story/photo etc as we're going to have to reach farther and wider I think to find someone willing to take on the kind of issue that focal seizures are."

"Calgary Dobe" Re: Porter, I am unable to reply to your PM as your inbox is full.

Congrats on adopting Porter. Glad to hear he is doing so well. To answer your question, Porter was not from the Surrey SPCA, he was from Surrey Animal Resource Centre (SARC). He was then transferred to the GSD Rescue. Contact SARC for their notes or Kelly Cook at GSD for more background info on Porter. All I know is what has been posted here. All the best to you.

"juljules" thanks for the reply! Porter is doing great. Everyone loves him at the at the dog park. His head tremors are under control...days to months between episodes, but a tiny square of cream cheese shuts them down instantly! I had reached out to you because Kelly didn't really have much background (re:tremors) and SARC had been taken over. As it turns out, the tremors are no big deal. I wish I could post a pic of Porter, because he does turn heads!
