puppy and exercise..help!

My 8th month old puppy is driving me and his 2 yr old half sister nuts! I can walk for hours and he is not done yet, it is like we never left the house! I trained the older on to walk on the treadmill and she loves it. Gets her energy out on those cold or rainy days, but the pup it is TERRIFIED of it. Any tips to get the puppy on the treadmill? I know I have to start slow, but he will get NO WHERE near it, even when his sister is walking on it and getting treats.

I'd say he's too young for a treadmill and I'd venture to say exercise isn't the problem. He doesn't know how to settle would be my guess. I'd start teaching HOW to settle and be quiet.

Mental stimulation wears my boy out like no walk can. A half hour training session worked wonders for us. (any longer and he'd fall asleep in the middle of a "down-stay.")

But I agree with Adara as well. He may need to learn how to settle still. We kenneled with a frozen kong which led to a nap. Or we cuddled to get him to settle. After a good potty time and some training time.

ETA: Then as he started to understand we could move it to either his spot on the couch, his bed or his kennel.

puppies don't need treadmills - they need attention, play, fun, education, and lots of challenging toys and games. he's too young for enforced, regimented exercise anyway. do you take him to obedience classes and work with him at least 2 or 3 times a day on his lessons? but he is very young, and they are supposed to be full of mischief.

their pawprints in our hearts never fade

Yes we do training sessions daily, several times a day. He just has so much energy and sometimes we can do some running, burn off the energy things, but on days we can't well.....energy abounds. Just looking for tips on how to get him mentally and pysically tired on days I can not run him. (which he loves) Thanks

Do you play fetch with him? How about tug?
