Skin care, walking, ears and everything else.

Firstly, thank you to everyone in this community. Before I bought my doberman I spent months on this website ready and learning. You have to read and make your own decisions based on different experiences. So I thought I would offer mine and maybe someone will read it and it might help them. So here is a couple things I wanted to say.

SKIN CARE:
My dog developed back skin. Very flakey and started to get bald patches. I do the following and all the hair grew back perfectly.

With each meal I give:
1) probiotics (1 tablet)
2) fish oil (tea spoon)
3) Flax Forward brand flax seed oil (also has vitamens)- table spoon
3) Cocunut oil (tea spoon).

I also spray apple cider vinagar diluted with water (equal parts) in the morning on his skin and and rub cocunot oil at night.
-please note i feed my dog raw. it is the way to go IMO!!

LEAVING YOUR DOG ALONE:
This was a big worry of mine. I read so many places you cant leave your dog alone. I go to work at 9 and come back at 5. my dog never causes any trouble. Why? He knows were going either rollerblading, hiking, off leash dog park or tugging for an hour. he goes on a pee walk at night and morning also (very quick). Although some nights in the summer they are longer and we walk in the neighbourhood.
So you can have a dog if you work. Just make sure your consistent with your timing and he knows he gets a chance to get rid of his energy. If i go out somewhere and i can take him, he comes and waits in the car. On weekends I dedicate one day to him for an adventure that is a couple of hours. Trust me on this- You can have a dog if you work during the days.

EARS:
If you are located in Toronto go to DR. Staples. Also- YES YES YES beleive everyone when they say stop taking off to see if they stand. just wrap them up and get over it. And when you think they are done, go for another 2-4 weeks.

Punishment:
I never once hit my dog. if you punsih them by being disapointed and ignoring them, they will want to make you happy and not disapoint you. works better than hitting.

WASHROOM:
For the love of god, teach them to pee in one spot in the backyard, otherwise say bye to your lawn

PROTECTION:
If you want to train a dog to be crazy, don't get a doberman. they aren't what you think they are based on movies. they are sweet. they will instinctually protect you if need be. other than that- they are cuddlers. don't be disapointed if you want a killer and he is cuddling beside you.

BUY INSURANCE
enough said. I really like pet secure

Just my 2 cents.

BTW my dogs name is Rambo. He is 1.5 years old and weighs 95 pounds. he is the best thing i've done with my life. I attached some pics for your veiwing pleasure. PS why is there no spellcheck????
