Tattletale (a.k.a. Dobe-Puppy Nanny)

I was on the phone today and Cody (9 year old Lab) was barking and didn't stop when I told her to. Cody is a very sweet, well-behaved dog and doesn't bark much. I finally noticed that she was barking because Maiya was shredding our TV guide into little pieces. Cody also barks if Maiya tries to counter surf or tries to dig in the yard.

Any stories of your dogs tattling or trying to keep other household dogs from misbehaving?

Labs are such goofy dogs, I love them!

Otto walks our Irish Setter, Banner, on leash if we give him the opportunity. If Banner pulls Otto stops and pulls back, like the tree exercise you do for loose leash walking (minus the pulling back). Banner is a counter surfer and if he gets something good, Otto puts on his pathetic face so we automatically know something is wrong.

I lectured Daisy when we first brought home Nova because she didn't let us know her sister was pooping in the crate! LOL

My old man Sagar (GSD) tattled on my kids when they were up to no good. He was so diligent that my daughter (the especially sneaky one) took to locking the dog up before committing her 7 year old crimes! The first time he ratted them out I was in the shower shampooing my hair. I kept feeling like I was being watched so I sort of peeked out of one eye... There was Sagar with his head in the shower staring at me with the most intense look he ever gave me. I don't know how, but I instantly KNEW what he was trying to tell me. After that he was my trusty stool pigeon!

I find it disturbing that my dog's value is based on myth and exaggeration, as though their reality wasn't good enough. ~ Jean Donaldson

Buddy saved Patches when they were both young had Buddy tied out so Patches could go out for a little while.Buddy started howling really strange so went to go see what his problem was. There was Patches in a all out panic she had a stick stuck in her mouth I tried to get it out did not work.Turned Buddy loose grabbed Patches up went to the vets thats about 3 blocks away. They had to knock her out to get the stick out it was really jambed in her mouth, then I had to wait till she woke up then went home.Buddy sure was happy to see us when we got back home.

We just rescued a new Golden, about 14 months old, and in the middle of the night, if he has to go to the bathroom, our other dog will wake us up. The first time, I thought it was Kirby that needed to go out, which is unusual, but he stood at the door with me and watched Oni pee, then went back to sleep. Interesting stuff.

My dog (not the dobe) tattled on herself once. I heard something hit the floor in the kitchen one day while the rest of us were dining picnic-style in front of a movie, then Sadee came tearing around the corner and into her crate. She wouldn't even look at me, so I went into the kitchen and saw that she'd pulled a piece of chicken off the counter.

The dobe, Sable, had 2 owners before me (my daughter adopted her in Southern Italy). Sable had developed bad habits, like counter surfing and getting into the garbage. Anyway, another day Sadee came tearing into the living room from the kitchen and tried to get into her crate, but it was closed because I was vacuuming in front of it. So then she went under the table, but again she wouldn't look at me, so I put the vacuum down and tip-toed around the corner to find the dobe scattering garbage across the floor.
