Doberman puppy 5lbs

I have a doberman thats really small. not sure what if he's actually a doberman but the vet said hes too big for a min pin. he also has blue eyes which is not a characteristic of a doberman. Please help! has anyone had one that looked like that? what do they look like now?

Can you post photos? Most doberman puppies are more than twice that weight when they go to their new homes.

And many very young puppies have blue eyes temporarily.

I thought of that too, CR, but I hope the vet would pick up on it if the puppy was young enough that they haven't changed color yet vs flagging it as a sign of a mixed breed.

How old is your puppy, dm? I'm assuming he's black?

Pictures really would help. Not only can you judge a puppy's condition from that (too skinny, stunted looking etc) but sometimes you can pick up differences in head shape or body proportion which help you guess whether the dog is probably a pure-bred or mixed dobe or even something else entirely. There are a lot of breeds who are black and tan (black and rust).

Wow, that seems super small. I got my puppy at 8 weeks and he was 13lbs when we took him to the vet the following day. Like others have said, pictures would help a lot! What's his age? Is he eating properly, and how long have you had him?

5lbs seems VERY small. My puppies are 5lbs and they're not even 3 weeks old yet.
