Trying to get Bigwig to poop on the leash...

Yes, we pickup our rescue (Boss) on Friday. However, he will not poop on the leash...help! Not a big deal now, but on a trip will be an issue.

He was renamed. I could not deal with Boss. So Bigwig it is, another strong "B" sound. It's from Watership Down.

Try a long line to start, and a lot of patience.

Timing it for when you'd expect him to need to poop also help--like after a meal and I found with a Dobe bitch we were hauling along to shows if we found a place where there was a tree to hide behind (even a little tree that didn't really hide much of her) she'd poop after breakfast or dinner if she didn't think we were staring at her.

Congrats on Mr. B!

Our Spock rings the "potty bell" on the door, when he has to take a dump, usually right after wolfing down his food. I like to joke that Spock he has a straight pipe from his mouth to his butt, no stomach.

Whenever I pick up the poop with the scoop in backyard, Spock will 95% of the time, get inspired and generate one more load for me, as if he's "helping Dad".... Like the other's have already said, patience and lots of sniffing time around his favorite dumping ground, should do it for Mr. B on a long leash.
