Most Embarrassing Dog Moments

There was another post about some "exploding" boxes that made me reminiscence about some of those maybe not so fun times with our dogs. What was your most embarrassing moment that is dog related? Let's have some fun showing others that we are not alone!

Mine would have been when Brandy and I were competing in nose work. She was always the one I had to watch out for. For example; she refused to walk on certain types of flooring and would almost always decide that bathrooms were something she didn't care to enter.
Well, one of the last trials I did with her was a NW3 in Minnesota. The day started out great, she got everything out of the way including a good poop and several pees. The first element was our container search, which she did amazing at, and then we moved on to interiors.
It was at a school and we had three separate rooms to search. First room went well, on to the next. She tried to bolt down the hallway, but I figured she was just being Brandy....I was wrong. We got into the second room and started to search. All the sudden she stops and has diarrhea all over the (carpeted!) floor. And Brandy never stood in one place when she pooped, she had to make trails. I knew I couldn't say anything because that would just make it worse so I stood there stupidly with my mouth gaping open. I had absolutely no idea she wasn't feeling well. The poop she had that morning was nice and solid, so not only was I embarrassed, but I felt like a bad mom to boot!
They actually let us finish the next room which she also did well in. Sadly, we aced all the elements even getting pronounced in everything but that one. It will always be the one that got away. If only I would have taken her out when she tried to pull me down the hallway!

Poor girl.

Sigh.... Novice Obedience ring... probably one of the best Heel on Lead patterns that Ilka ever did... on the final halt, she did not sit. Instead, she squatted and proceeded to pee a huge puddle. This was after having been out right before our ring time.

My favorite is when they poop a dangler and they start whirling around trying to see what is going on back there, right when someone walks by. And then you have to figure out how to remove it without being too obvious what you are doing.

LOL... Years ago, when our now 10 yo boy "The Sheriff" was a young intact male, he was over playing at our neighbors home with their big rambunctious male Goldendoodle. My neighbor had just purchased some new beautiful handmade Adirondack chairs and was moving them around the yard trying to figure out where she wanted to place them.

In the middle of play, Sheriff abruptly stopped, walked over to the she was fussing with her new prize possessions, and proceeded to pee all over them. Of course I was was totally mortified, and rushed over to grab him. Then, all of a sudden, her boy walked over to the chairs, gave them a sniff, and then also peed all over them. Then pups went straight back to rough housing.

It was all I could do to keep from breaking out in laughter.

Needless to say, my friend is not find it amusing!

Oh, I've pulled literally thousands of klingons off Zipper that were hanging by a blade of grass or one of my hairs (she had a habit of thoroughly licking the carpet if there was one molecule of food smell on it). Poor thing would be walking around, hunched up, trying to get that THING off her butt.

I guess my most embarrassing moment was bringing home my first rescue Dobe, Thor. Unbeknownst to me, he liked to chase cats, and we had two at the time. Both cats were outside when we got home, and as soon as we got out of the car, he saw them and the chase was on. Didn't matter that I was on the other end of his leash, he pulled me RIGHT off my feet and dragged me across the gravel driveway. (Why didn't I let go? I have no idea!) I don't think TOO many of the neighbors saw us. Then I enrolled him in obedience classes (he was 1.5 years old) and the very first night, he dragged me across the parking lot as soon as we got out of the car and jumped a female Rott that was apparently in heat (!!?!!). Thor was neutered, but I guess that didn't matter to him. And that was in front of the obedience instructor. Do I have to say out loud that we were kicked out of class?

There are several of them " Moments " around here One that I remember that embarrassed my wife was , we took Kasia to the Vets for her annual shots and of course - she was a 10 ! Nails trimmed , bath , looking great . Kasia was a princess ! We went in to the Vet office and sat down , a few minutes later in came a working dog - A Aussie that was very dirty and she smelled very bad , my guess is she had found something dead and rolled on it . Kasia was looking at the Aussie and then side stepped away from the Aussie a few steps , Like get away you stinking thing . The owner was watching Kasia and then looked up at us with a funny look on her face . I was about to roll on the floor laughing , because that dog was rank , but the other owner just didn't think it was funny .

Mr. Business got off to a great start as a pup ! His very first trip with me out into the real world was a stop and a large elevator's main office to introduce him , There are about 10 people that work in there - open concept with cubes , All was going well , Everybody was loving on him - up one aisle , down the other , we were down to the end to the last person , the chief merchandiser of all the bean plant - He was not one of my favorite people ! Ican not state my true feelings of him on here

Like they say Dogs are great at judging people ! Kadin and I just made the turn at his desk - Kadin then picked up the pace - ran right up to his desk - did a triple spin and took the biggest dump I have ever seen for a dog that little ! Everybody in that office was rolling on the floor - They said that Kadin had only been there for a half an hour and told his thoughts and feelings for the manager

First Doberman Mafia, he was 1 year and 80 pounds.
I knew nothing at this time about the breed leashes etc.
Bought him a retractable leash ......egads........
We had a newspaper man early in the morning 5AM that was always making time on his route.
Throw the paper , and hit the gas. House to house.
I was walking Mafia .....in the street opposing side of the newspaper man.
Dude hit the gas ...and Mafia hauled azz.
I did not have the lock on , on this retractable leash......so Mafia took off.
He was a new dog for me I did not want to let him go.......I held onto that dang leash until he was out about 25 feet ....then BAM......I was face down in the gutter !
Newspaper man backed up and asked if I needed any help.
Advised him , just pull away real slowly please !
Yup.....road rash straight down my face along with some sand that resided in the gutter.
This was first reality check of the power within these dogs and NOT to use retractable leashes!!!

I won't even start on the dogs that pooped (usually diarrhea) exactly when and where you least expected) or the males that chose to hike their leg on the pantleg of a handler, total stranger or on the drapes of someone you hardly knew.

The worst one for me was the time that my Afghan Hound who was in Open Obedience for the first time I'd left him on a Sit Stay and we were starting to walk out of the ring when the judge called the handler of the Afghan to come back get her dog. I stepped out of the line of exiting handler and realized my dog was ON the judges table inspecting what was on it--looked lot like he was doing scent discrimination up there. The judge was trying not to laugh and the spectators were all laughing their asses off.

The Afghan always had lots of surprises for me...

omg, we just went through a horrible episode of this the other day. I couldn't stop laughing so hard. Ace is definitely my boy, and any time anything scary happens, he runs directly to me and hides his head between my legs.

So he did his business, and had a dangler. The zoomies commenced as hes running around trying to figure out what is going on. I burst out laughing, and you can just see the terror in his eyes. He takes off TO ME, and puts his head right between my legs, nearly knocking me over. Then since it was still there, he decides I would be a good post to try and rub it off on. So he spins around, and I run for my life back to the driveway. The whole time I am hysterically laughing while running for my life (well, cleanliness), and hes got the most embarrassed, shameful look ever chasing me for help. You could just see the betrayal on his face, that I would not stop and help him, lol. Finally he decides to try and do his business again, and successfully handles it himself. Trots back over to me all proud as I am now crying on my hands and knees from laughing so hard, lol.

But still, our most embarrassing moment to date is when we were about to walk into the CGC test, and he decided to squat down and leave the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen. With all eyes on us. After he had been outside for 20 mins.

Bacc and I were at the Wilmington KC agility trial (outdoors). He was still very young (4). And he loved applause and people. To call him an applause junkie didn't do it justice..... That day he walked into the ring with me like Cool Hand Luke. I sat him in front of his first jump of a row of 3 and proceeded to walk away with the intent of going out to the 3rd jump and calling. As soon as I started walking I heard the first "tee hee" giggle from a few people. With each step the giggle got louder until it was a full blown BWAHAHHAHA from pretty much everybody behind me. The judge was standing facing me and had a perfect view of Bacc. Her face was frozen, lips tightly clamped and looked like she was having difficulty maintaining that. As the laughter increased I became more and more afraid to turn around and look. I finally got to the 3rd jump and turned......... Bacchus was on his back rolling around in the grass, legs flailing the air like he was possessed. He hadn't moved from his start spot merely went from a perfect sit to a dog in dire need of an exorcism. I yelled "HEY!!".....he jumped up with an "I'm coming, I'm coming" look and began his run. We managed to Q and as we were leaving the ring I'm saying through gritted teeth "what the HELL was that???" A couple of minutes later one of the laughing spectators came over, still laughing BTW, and said "he started out just rolling a little bit and when people started laughing he rolled harder and harder. He really got into it. He would actually stop, raise his head to see if he still had an appreciative audience and then roll harder". After that I gradually phased out my lead out......... At the end of his agility career we still had no lead out and only did rear crosses. But that's another story.

It wasn't any of my dobes, but my Newfie, Tucker.

When I lived in NJ, one night we could see (and hear) people jacking deer in the field behind our and our neighbor's house. So we called the police and reported it.

A couple hours after the shooting stopped, my husband took Tucker out for his last walk before bed. While they were out, he saw an officer in the neighbor's yard, and walked with Tucker over to the fence to chat. While they were discussing the deer jackers, you guessed it, my 180 lb Newfie, lifted his leg and proceeded to pee on the horse fence. Unfortunately, the officer was leaning against the other side.

My husband said that at first the officer accused HIM of peeing on him, but then realized just how big Tucker was, which explained why he got hit full stream in mid thigh, lol. Oddly enough, he declined our offer to come into our house while we threw his pants in the wash.

My husband was laughing so hard when he came back in the house, I thought HE was going to pee himself!

My boyfriend would say one of the most embarrassing moments he had with Tahoe (his dobie) was when Tahoe and my male husky/malamute got into a weird pissing match where Tahoe peed on Kenai, Kenai then peed on my boyfriend's car, and so Tahoe had to one up him so he peed on me. This was also one of the first time we met but I like to joke that this is how Tahoe said that he was okay with me dating his dad.

For me, it would be when Athena ate a soy candle and the wick was dangling out of her butt. I was yelling "Athena, I need to pull that out of your butt so stay still!" and no one knew what I was talking about.
