Ground transport

Can anyone share experience with using a pet transport service? I may have an opportunity to obtain a young adult dog from a breeder several states away (about 1200 miles), and we are looking at different options for getting her here. I've checked with a few but I just have a thousand questions about how it works logistically, how they keep a sanitary and healthy (parvo-free) environment while picking up animals all over the country, what they do with the dogs overnight, how long they end up in transport, etc. I don't want to use the service and it turn out to be a completely miserable, stressful experience for the dog who is already in for an adjustment to a new home.

Exec Pet Transportation ........

I have never used this company before but I googled your service........and found this site.

Looks like a personalized service.

Good luck with your transport.....if you do find a clean transport service that you like please let us know for those that might inquire on future posts.

Could you take a road trip to pick up the dog?

I'm with Meadowcat -- Road trip This is just me thinking out loud - but I would not trust a service to deliver my pup - and very few people - Well people like the ones on here I would trust .

1,200 is not a bad deal - make it going and coming back in 2 days ( weekend )

Good luck

No, I can't right now or I would. Work schedule and holidays are prohibitive right now. It's this or fly her here. I couldn't do that trip in two days, lol. It's 18 hours one way assuming no stops.

I've personally had a puppy flown to me, and it worked out great, but I know some people aren't comfortable with that either. I hope you are able to find a good solution for you.

I have too - I've flown two puppies before, and when my mom passed and I "inherited" her dog, we had her flown to me as well. But it's pretty pricey for an adult doberman, and we also have winter weather to contend with now, so I'm looking at alternatives. The good thing about flying is that it's over with quickly for the dog. Even if it is a long, weird day. I'm trying to figure out what the least stressful thing is since a re-home is going to be a stressful enough event on the dog in itself. We don't need the trip to exasperate that.

Where is the puppy coming from? I'm driving to KY in December and coming back at the beginning of January.

You have quite the drive! She'll be coming from Michigan. And she's 1.5 years old.

If you wanted to wait until January and they would be willing to meet me in Indiana I could bring her back to Denver, not sure where you are in Colorado.

I'm not 100% sure but if she's willing I could go out of my way a bit.

I'm sure she wouldn't mind - just let me know your route and we can see if it would be close enough to work!
