Recent Photos of Moose and Mina

I stopped entering the calendar contests mostly bc of the photobucket thing but I was just able to post a photo w/out using a third party....so YAY! Here are some updated pics. Mina is now 2yrs 3 months old and Moose is 2 yrs and 10 months. They remain my life. Last year my horse Otto died and it was awful and sad bc I had him for so long.... but having the M’s made my grief a little easier. its been 1.5 yrs since we moved and I finally finished the renovations and landscaping etc. they LOVE their new yard, pool and grass. I also did a complete demo of my driveway and back area and then re poured the concrete but with integral color in the concrete. It’s smooth and they love running all over the place. First pic is Mina, second is in their newly finished yard and third is Moose.

AJ- Good to see you back on DT!

What a nice yard for Dobes (and humans) to play in!
Is that Moose & Mina's very own "Doberhouse" adjoining the garage?

Moose’s brother Oso (same parents diff litter). Some of you may recall that I bought him for my stepdaughters to have at their house with their mom and stepdad. He is doing great and is the star of the family. Sometimes, the girls bring him when it’s their weekend with us.... moose loves it of course and Mina bosses them around or sits with her paws crossed watching them while they play. She will join in on the fun but mostly glares at them like they are really dumb and beneath her LOL

Thanks!! The electricians are coming to bury the power lines this week and then I move on to my last project which is the casita. Rn, I’m using the casita as storage but the plan is to make one of the rooms a guest room and the other room a pool room... basically a place to change, relax, watch tv etc etc. I will not allow anyone in a wet swimsuit with wet feet to step foot in the main house so need to have a designated place. I would totally make it a dog house but the dogs like to be close to us wherever we go so in their mind that is way too far from us

Very nice yard. I miss crepe myrtles.

Love the dog pictures--
Such a modest Moose! That is a very artful foot placement in the first shot of him relaxing.

Thanks! I love crepe myrtles so much. I might plant 2 more in the front haven’t decided.

Moose is the funniest dog. He will relax in the most odd positions.... he loves to do the Superman pose on his back. We laugh so hard. Sweet moose

Hey AJ, I love crepe myrtles also, we've got (3) 50 footers in our front yard.
However, they are one of the worst plants to have near a pool...in my experience.

I just cut back two groups of crepe myrtles near our back fence line about 16 feet from our pool, because they were dumping LOTS of tiny blooms and leaves into the pool, making it very hard to keep clean. I am planning to dig up and give the plants to my daughter for her front yard. (see pics) IMO best plants to have around pool are palm types, no crepe myrtles, mimosa, mesquite, tallow or other debris dropping "trash" trees.

“Cutback transplant operation” . Luckily the CM in my backyard doesn’t blow too many of those blooms into the pool. The issue for us is a pecan tree. you can see how enormous it is in the first pic. I had it trimmed way back (See pic below it was a total mess!) It’s so big. Cherry laurels are my new favorite. I used them to hide pool equipment and also to cover my stone wall . I’ve really gotten into plants/shrubs and landscaping these last 6 months. Learning that it is all one big GAME OF IRRIGATION. We are still trying to figure it out. Lol. Everything is supposed to be automatic... sprinklers, drips etc but I can tell when something looks thirsty so playing by my own rules until the irrigation programmer can come out to change the times. I’m taking old school notes on paper to keep track of my extra watering. Lol.

My mom found out about the messy myrtle/pool thing too.

When they put in their pool, she planted dwarf crepe myrtles in the landscape bed all along one side of the pool and across part of the back. It looked beautiful, especially when they were in bloom.

But, especially as the trees grew (nothing stays a dwarf in Louisiana), they cursed that decision almost every day.

They took out the pecan tree that was back there when they put the pool in. But very few nuts got past the squirrels anyway.

I bet it looked really pretty though! Pecan trees are no joke. I will NEVER plant one. This one has been here for years and it is testing my patience.
