Pretty Smart.

This last week here in Indiana , along with about 2/3rds of the country , it has been brutal with temps in the mid to high 90s and humidity. Off the scale .

We have a stamped concrete patio that is a darker red color , when the sun is out in high force , it gets very hot to walk on with bare feet . When the heat kicked in , before I let them out to potty in the heat of the day , we would fire up the hose and we would spray down the patio to cool it off for them . Yesterday , it was not to bad when I let Ali out , she has to walk around the lot once to check it out , for our safety , lol then does her deal and comes in . Well yesterday as she was on patrol , I had to wash off some bird do do and there was a narrow walk path that was wet , from the yard all the way up to the back of the house , Ali girl walked around the edge of the patio to the wet path , then walked in the water to the back door , lol

It was just like in the winter when I clean a path threw the snow to the yard , but summer time , lol was cute to see .

Pretty smart gal she is

i learned a good rule of thumb a while back when testing a concrete, asphalt or stone surfaces.

Take your hand, palm up and place the back of your hand directly on the surface. If you can hold it comfortably for 5 seconds, you can assume that the surface is cool enough for your dog's feet.

I got that from a pamphlet that our local groovy pet store was handing out. It was about the dos and don'ts of dealing with hot weather when pets are involved.

Of course there are always the boots that are specifically for hot weather...
