What A Gorgeous Spring Day!!!

I can't believe I wrote that but it's true, the weather gods have taken mercy on us; today was sunny with a high of....wait for it...79!!! 79, in middle TN, in June...who'da thunk it? Especially after the couple of weeks of mid 90s we had not too long ago. It's supposed to stay like this for the next few days, or so they say and I'm loving it The minute I walked in the door from work today, I changed clothes and told Mocha to grab her wubba while I grabbed my camera and we were promptly off to the backyard to play some fetch. Your honor, exhibit A:

Mocha soaking up the sunshine, and resting a bit after running around like a whirling dervish

Mocha does love fetch and tug of war (almost as much as she does cucumbers and bananas )

I don't like to let her run hard when it's so hot like it's been lately so yeah, she was happy to get out there yesterday, and seeing her enjoy herself like that put a big smile on my face. I changed clothes and said "Mocha, go get your Kong and let's go play" and it took her no time to run to my room, grab the wubba and run to the back door

LOL!!! Boy am I glad to see this--I tell people my dogs will eat almost any kind of fruit or vegetable. No one believes that they eat (and beg for more) cucumbers--bananas are more common I get a lot of raised eyebrows when I say that yes, they all like cucumbers, and zucchini, cabbage and any kind of lettuce.

Over time (years) I've had one dog who didn't like celery if it was a piece with little leaves on it. That was the Aussie. Several Dobes didn't care much for citrus fruit (although it was a Dobe who thought lemons were really good). They all ate apples, pears and any kind of berries. And all learned to pick berries off the canes when they were ripe instead of just picking all the berries--ripe or not. A German Shepherd taught a Dobe who tracked with her how to open Hazelnuts and walnuts and spit out the shells.

Would be vegetarians--all of them!

I think my first, Caesar, was the only one of mine to be consistently omnivorous. But he didn't like bananas until he got in the habit of snorkeling under my son's highchair. Bananas used to rain down on him quite a bit from up above, and he finally developed a taste for them.

Rather like my childhood dog, who used to beg for dill pickles, eat them with an awful expression on his face, and then beg for more. I guess he figured if we were eating it, it must be good, and that maybe he had gotten a bad one the first time.

Citrus fruit was not a favorite of any of them, though once a peeled orange disappeared from my nightstand when I left it unguarded to visit the bathroom. Someone (Katana) just happened to be ensconced on the bed. She gave me an innocent look when I got back, but I KNEW. I don't think she ever ate another orange again, though.

Mocha absolutely loves tangerines, oranges, bananas, cucumbers, & watermelon. She'll also eat lettuce and of all things, cilantro LOL

If Mocha is in my home office with me, and my wife is peeling/cutting cucumbers, Mocha will smell it in a second and before you know it, there's a Doberman sitting in the kitchen, watching my wife with laser-like focus.
