Road Trip !

Well our Dober friends - it has rained and rained and rained here in Indiana - I think most of you know that I farm and getting very behind = no crops planted - rained a little this morning , I have plenty to do but after reading TN and his 5 DAYS off and CF and her family trip - Ken said what the heck And took today off and Son and I headed to Shelbyville to pick up a new bag of Pro Plan .

First we had to stop at the Kroger gas station or walk - put all 4 windows down about 4 inch's - that did not help lol - Mr. Business was wanting out -he did get the attention of the lady that had finished pumping her gas and walk by our truck - a perfect timed light bark and I think she then headed to the ladies room What to say to son - other than you shouldn't do that lol

Then it was to Pet Valu - Shelbyville never had a pet store till Pet came to town and I have to say it is my favorite pet short - the Gals are great - very helpful and have lots of things to chose from -

As we got of the truck - another truck pulled in next to us - it was a friend that I have known since we were kids - he said my god Ken - what a dog then said he was a horse , minded very well - I told him thanks and as we walked together to the store - Kadin got nervous - I just thought it was the fire truck with the lights , siren + horn that had him spooked - he had never seen one before - Into the store we go - was greeted by one of the gals and she was talking and petting him as he sat - but was really nervous - he only does that when he had to go potty - I thought no - he went before we loaded up - he didn't want to sit ! He stood up then a nice small turd popped out ! I about s--t - pun intended - I told the girl I was sorry , he had never done that and he knows better - I said we will be back in a minute - took him to a grassy area and that boy had to go ! Not to get graphic on here - but have you ever seen a horse do number 2 ??? That was Mr. Business

Back into the store we go - but had to pose for a few pictures !

This no joke here - but Kadin didn't want to sit here ! He smelled the shampoo !!!!! I think he thought he was getting another bath - lol

Then checking out - the gals gave him a treat !

Mr. B got to go behind the desk to see his friend Jennifer ! He was just Chi today - I think they associate places and the Vet's office is not the place he likes to B.S at

Well now we are back home and he is taking a nap - I think the trip ??? Pooped him out lol

Till next time -- Doc and Son

When you gotta go, gotta go. I generally take McCoy to our small local pet supply store with me. I always walk him first, letting him mark until his bladder is totally empty. It's a huge temptation for an intact male to mark where other dogs have frequently urinated. He's really good about it. He has only done it once and that was in a PetSmart, where many dogs pee every day.

I forgot one funny part - as we were leaving New Pal - Kadin was smelling something in a box near the floor - I asked him to come on - he was not done smelling what ever - I took a step back and looked at what he was smelling - It was a little stuffed Dobie puppy toy- I think he thought it was real - well it looked pretty real to me - lol

Great account, Ken! However, Spock sees Kadin's "nice small turd" story and raises him "one heaping pile of soft, smelly crap" incident.

Here's what happened.....

Two months ago during Spock's weekly elementary school Read With Me visit, we were scheduled to start with a new 4th grade student during 3rd reading session. Well all went well with new boy student, but near end of time period, Spock got up from his down position and started circling nervously. I knew he needed to potty soon. However, I had forgotten that he was having a week of soft and frequent stools. I told the student that I'd take Spock outside front of school for a potty break, after escorting him back to his class.

Spock was unusually brisk and tugging on harness on way back to classroom. When we reached the 4th grader's classroom, it was empty. The class was at P.E. in the gym. Also, the usually busy hallways were empty of students and staff. We'll Mr. Spock just couldn't hold onto the gold any longer- in the middle of the hallway he laid one of the largest piles of smelly, soft poop that I've witnessed from him.

I was soooo thankful no students or staff could be seen around! The student, a dog person, and I sprang into action. I started pulling many poop bags (lavender scented) from my cargo pants, which I ALWAYS carry when handling the Dobes. Student started feeding me paper towels from the classroom sink. I gathered, bagged, rebagged, wiped, rebagged, rewiped, etc. until the entire mess was gone and sealed up. I cut short on the last student reader and exited the school promptly.

I explained to the office admin and reading director by email after leaving early. They got a chuckle out of it and said "It's something that happens with animals....ha ha!"

This is the only incident of that type that Spock has had in 8 months of weekly visits. Now I take him on a preemptive potty break halfway during the visit, just to prevent this from reoccurring again...

It happens with little kids too. I remember getting an emergency call from the school once...my five year old son hadn't quite gotten to the bathroom in time.

We had a puppy-sized stuffed dobe toy (part of my casual collection) that Katana fell in love with. Her eyes lit up when she saw it, and she carried it around lovingly for quite a while. She was spayed; it was not a false pregnancy.

We called it "Puppy"; as in, "Go find Puppy, Katana!"

But she had a little separation anxiety too. We came home from some errands one day and she had killed Puppy while we were gone

When my son, Noah, was a toddler he said he wanted "his own" Doberman.

I told him he had a Doberman. He insisted he wanted his own. So I bought him a 3/4 sized stuffed Dobe. He named him "Cornbread". He has had him his entire life. Now Cornbread is his son's "own" Doberman! LOL

I think its funny that some of us are “throwing in the towel” so to speak regarding work...and taking time with our pups.
Mental Health days.....oh yeah.............
Yesterday I left work early and spent time doing some landscaping ...good way to burn some calories.......no noise........just birds....and .....squirrels......we worked while the sprinklers were on or lets say I worked....Hoss supervised from a distance ........these dogs just love to be with their people.

To be honest MC - I think it ruined his road trip - Yes - I did get him a new bag of training treats - he don't get them for training - lol When I have to give Ali a pill - He thinks he should get one too - So I give him a few training treats - He's then very happy

I understand what your say 'n' - When we left yesterday - I left my phone at home !!! All it does is ring - all pertain to the wet weather - when do I think we can run - when is the rain coming - it goes on and on and I'm tried of talking about it lol

Anyway - what great therapy - Just goofing around with your Doberman !
