The school ask my daughter if 'Duggan' could give another demonstration in Scent work as an assembly. The last one went so well, some of the parents said they wish they had known about it so they could have come before. This time they added the first and fourth grades.
My daughter gave the school a brief talk on how they train and a little about the breed and then allows the kids to take the scent and hide somewhere in the gym using their lunch bags,
or backpacks, etc. while she and Duggan leave the area.
I found out later someone had even put a lunch carryout with a bit of chicken left in it, on the floor with the backpacks.
Duggan is extremely throrough and methodical. He never missed and they thought the most amazing thing was he sniffed on time at the leftover chicken and moved on, like, nope
that's not it.
So many backpack, so many smells, so much noise...but, he aced it and won the hearts of teachers, parents and students.
Some of the younger students ask why he didn't have a tail, or why his ears were so pointed.
But Duggan took all the hugs and kisses and mauling and applause in stride
and slept very well last night and today!
Someone else took these pictures. Too far away for flash to do any good and they are dark and out of focus, so I will only include this one.
