Introducing Miley!

Look who came to live with us! Baron's BFF, Miley. My friend, Carol, Miley's mom is in poor helath and will going into assisted living soon. She went down hill very fast. We saw her in early summer and she was starting to look frail. When we went to see her 2 weeks ago, she can barely walk with a walker, she is getting dementia, has the start of macular, and has a torn rotator cuff from falling so much which can't be fixed. I am so heartbroken for her. But, we always told her for years that if anything ever happened that she needed to go in the hospital for any reason, we would watch Miley. Well, when went down 2 weeks ago and saw how bad she was, we told her we would definitely take Miley and care for her. Her son called us a few days later said we should come get Miley the end of the month. So we picked her up yesterday! She will be 12 on March 22 but is in pretty good health. Only takes thyroid. Baron and her are from the same breeder and share the same grandparents. They were kennel mates from the woman we got Baron from. Carol was the one who told us that Baron was available so we owe her so much. She knows us and has been up here numerous times to visit Baron so the transition will be a little easier for her. She sniffed the whole house and I am sure she was wondering where Baron is. Baron is smiling down from the Bridge and so happy she is with us. She is helping us heal and smile again. She is our first red Dobe!

Oh wow... What a gorgeous old gal.

I am sorry about your friend. It must of given her great comfort to know that her sweet girl was going to be loved and cared for.

And yup!.... Somewhere over there, I am sure that Baron is smiling approvingly, patiently waiting on his Miley. What a nice thought.

HI Miley!

Wonderful of you to take her in, Dax. She's a lucky girl.

Give her an extra kiss and hug from us. If you can fit any more in to those you're already giving her, that is.

Oh what an amazing thing. So sorry for your friends health it’s a hard thing to watch. It’s a heartwarming thing you guys are giving this sweet girl a loving home and a familiar place to be. So sweet and adorable she is!

I hope she’s able to visit her mama in the home but what a blessing Miley is in a loving home and can also help you heal from your loss.

Great news.
For some people that are ill its a real struggle if they have a pet at home they are concerned about........we had a lady that lived close to us ...had terminal cancer......no family ........all she wanted was her dog to die before her ...she was so worried about what would happen to her dog. Turned out the nurse that was doing her daily home care adopted the dog.
So just know .....for someone real ill like your friend this gives them internal peace to do what they need to do with their own lives.......
You are paid ahead my dear friend........congrats on your new family member .........

Thanks spocksdad. Yes, I still have all of Baron's toys, coats, collars, leashes, and harnesses. There are a lot that are too "manly" for her but some will be OK. And, yes, we will certainly be bringing Miley to see her mom! We are her Aunt and Uncle!

0402- So sorry to hear about your friend . I don't know how to exactly put what I want to say in words here , Such a great story -a feel good story - you know . Here are 2 Doberman owners , one that lost there Dober and one that lost there health and the stars lined up - each to help each other in a great time of need . And how fitting that Baron and Miley were BFF ? I have thought on these kinds of deal before - How did this happen ? I don't know , but it did . You may thing I'm not right , but sometimes I believe that a higher power is responsible some way - some how and I do believe our beloved best friend on here had his paw in it : )

I mean this in the best way 0402 - but the pictures of Miley in front of the window is just so fitting ! Your house was built with a Doberman in mind . I'm so happy for you all !

Look forward to more pictures in the near future

Thanks !

Ken

0402 - I hope this is OK to say 0402 - But your place sure looks good again with a Doberman in front of the windows .

Glad this worked out for you, Dax! Keep in mind that senior dogs have their own particular issues the same way puppies do, and if your friend's health has been failing for some time you may want to take Miley for a general health check for her teeth and bloodwork. I'm a little concerned for you about her age. We took in my aunt's 13 year old male doberman Stomp when she went into palliative care. It was a privilege to live with him, he was such a gentle, thoughtful dog, and he was a wonderful role model for our much younger female. But he had advanced DCM and was a three time cancer survivor. Within a few months his heart continued to get worse and he developed an aggressive cancerous lump on his foot. Tl:dr I didn't know nearly enough about DCM when he came to stay with us so it's good to do your homework on any existing health conditions with a professional.

Uh, Dax doesn't need any help with how to take care of a senior, and her friend took excellent care of Miley. It's not like she came from a rescue. But...I suppose good for those that may be reading along, maybe.

Uh... Saskdobie.

Dax just lost her 12 yo who happened to be the kennel mate (same breeder) to Miley. I am pretty sure there is plenty of knowledge there with respect to senior Dobes.

@ Dax... You are great. Best too Miley.

Ken, you could not have said it any better. I do believe Baron is on the Bridge smiling and so happy she is with us. Funny thing: She didn't pull any toys out Sunday or Monday but yesterday the first toy she pulled out with the last one Baron played with. It mingled some of her better looking ones in with his and that is the one she first pulled out. Now this morning she pulled two of his and two of her's. She has now started being interested in looking at the windows and saw the deer herd the first time today. She has a good bark on her for an old girl!

Sorry to hear about your friend, dax0402...sometimes the stars line up perfect and I believe this was meant to be, now, for you. I'm happy you and Miley have each other, she couldn't be in a more perfect home!

She is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are her life, her love, her leader. She will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of her heart. You owe it to her to be worthy of such devotion.
