DPCA Nationals 2018

Okay so who is going to the nationals this year?

Seriously, no one has even started a thread on this yet? Shameful.

I am going but I'm not sure what days yet. I went two years ago and I want to see the WAE again. I also miiiiiiight be attending the Rottweiler show too as its nearby and I've never gotten to see carting in person yet. (Also there is a UDC trial that weekend. Who puts all these dog events in one week??? Can't anything in my life be spaced out nicely?)

I know Greenkouki is going with Hugo. Who else from DT? Any old time members who arn't active here anymore?

Are we starting a fund to fly Dobebug in this time?

C'mon people!

I will be out of the country during the nationals this year, but my puppy will be there showing. Jalyn One Moment Please "Mabel" will be showing in 6-9 month AOAC (she is red). Carissa Shimpeno is handling her in sweeps and futurity, and one of her assistants will show her in the classes. So anyone that is there, please cheer for her!! I made these vacation plans (and paid for them) over a year ago, and did not know I would have a new show puppy. Chicago is one of my favorite cities, so I am bummed to not be going..... but there is europe waiting....

I'll be right here in Portland (the left hand one) and even funded I probably wouldn't go (you have no idea how much I hate flying).

But I usually get updates and any I get I'll pass along. I think Hugo's black litter brother is going--he's Hierarch's Reckless Love V Royalwood--co-owned by Mike and Renee Holth and the breeder. The Holth's are from Washington State and the puppy was at the Mt Hood summer specialty--handsome boy and doing well for himself.

HAHAHAHA - you have a really good memory (which I don't have anymore). We did go to Europe 2 years ago, and are cruising a different river this time... seeing different countries.

I've heard that the national will be back in Chicago in 2020 - I will definitely try to go then. Might make Topeka next year, but my niece is getting married in Florida one of the weekends..... I have to go to the wedding or my sister would never speak to me again!

That's too bad--are the other 6 all girls?

I'm kind of surprised--Cathy Ceely who was showing him at the Mt Hood specialty was really excited about him...

5 girls!

That's some competition for each other....At least your guy can get through some classes before he has to face them.

Have fun!

Any idea why Regionals is on two days? I looked at the premium and it was a little overwhelming.

Also is there a difference in which WAE? Are they just two different clubs hosting it and giving two opportunities so more people can get their dogs entered? Does anyone know anything about the evaluator? I looked him up but couldn't find anything that indicates what experience he has.

Still trying to finalize what events I should attend so any suggestions are appreciated.

Yes please do post any updates here for those that would like to know. I knew you probably wouldn't be attending but I had to try

Well I'll just have to find Mabel and maybe get a few puppy kisses. How old will she be?

You're right- although my memory isn't what it once was due to a lot of chronic fatigue over the past year, I definitely remember you being overseas last time it was in Chicago. Take it as a compliment- you were always so sweet and supportive about me fostering and how good Strike was with my fosters. I would have enjoyed meeting you in person.

Meadowcat, you aren't all that far away.... why aren't you attending???

Again, anybody else from DT going to be there?

Because MeadowCat spent a lot of money putting new siding on her house this year, and air conditioning, so she doesn't have the money, even if it's a one day trip to drive there Also, not enough vacation time....

I'm sure everyone will have a good time, though!

Ah, I responded in detail and it ate my post!
Mabel is 7 months - she will be shown at the regionals in 6-9 AOAC puppy bitch in both sweeps and regular classes. She is number 50 at regionals. She will be shown in futurity and regular classes at the national - same class 6-9 AOAC #62 (I think). Her sister will be shown in the regular classes - Helayne owns her sister. Carissa DeMilta Shimpeno will show Mabel in sweeps and futurity, she already had committed to show her sister in the classes, so Mabel will have one of Carissa's assistants. They are both very pretty puppies .... I of course think that Mabel is super special

You should try to make the Agility top 20 night - a real crowd favorite!

There is always more than one WAE because lots of people want to take their dogs through. I'm not sure who the evaluators are this year. We just had our club WAE last month - Lynn Kargaard was our evaluator and she is wonderful.

Well, I could make remarks about MC's addiction to dog collars.........

But I understand housing repair costs; they never end.

You have my sympathy, MC. My floors have been on hold all year. Mine are original to the house and my house is...actually, you guys don't need to know my house's age...it's embarrassing that its carpet is still around.

My floors are um... 75? years old, and in desperate need of refinishing. We ripped out the then 20-ish year old carpeting just before we moved in because I'd rather have wood floors in need of refinishing than nasty, puke brown carpeting.

What's killing us is the fact that both our 18 year old outdoor and 10 year old indoor AC units have both died, and it will cost roughly $6,000 to replace them.

You have my sympathy, MC. My floors have been on hold all year. Mine are original to the house and my house is...actually, you guys don't need to know my house's age...it's embarrassing that its carpet is still around.
Sadly, our collar purchases have been pretty slim lately...putting in a couple of new windows, too. Being an adult instead of doing the fun stuff SUCKS.

I do NOT understand why windows are so expensive, though I guess they are often made individually to fit an opening. Still.....

Yes, and ours are particularly expensive. Many of ours on the ground floor are close enough to the floor that they had to be tempered glass by law. Some are big enough that they were crazy expensive. These last two...one of them is a bathroom window, and it's right next to the shower, so it ALSO has to be tempered glass (in case one of us falls out of the shower and lands on the window???). Sigh. After these two, I have four left to replace in the house....all are original 1961 windows and they leak like crazy, plus hard to open and close. Ugh. Houses are money pits, that's for sure!

I had a change of plans today and there is a good chance I will try to make it this evening for the regular classes of regionals. If so, I will try to get some updates (and maybe even photos) for this thread, so stay tuned.

Alright I will try to find her at some point- or at least get some photos.

There is always more than one WAE because lots of people want to take their dogs through. I'm not sure who the evaluators are this year. We just had our club WAE last month - Lynn Kargaard was our evaluator and she is wonderful.
I don't know if I'll be able to make it for the agility top 20 but thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah I figured the WAE is done twice for that reason. The evaluator for both tests is Eric Peterson.

I saw on FB someone live stream the 6-9 AOAC.. Happened to be in my car getting back from park/errands. Sora perked the heck up the moment he saw Michelle with Cassius.

Hope you folks who are in Chicago have fun!

Got back not too long ago and am too tired to get photos up, sorry.

Greenkouki's Hugo placed 3rd in his class.... out of 4. I don't remember what he did in the morning, GK will have to fill you in on that.

Fitzmar, I saw Mabel and got a few photos. She was in the same class as one of Hugo's sisters- who won the class (and I believe she also won puppy sweepstakes). Mabel did not place.

I'm starting to think the people who usually send me updates from the National aren't there. The only thing I have is Winner Bitch from the Regional and it was Foxfire's Missing Alotta Love. She's not in Dobequest but I'd guess that she probably is a Ch Foxfire's Gotta Lotta Love (a Ch Foxfire's Love Monster daughter--Cupid) granddaughter.
