4th of July

Kodak is ready for the 4th. So gun fire doesn’t seem to bother him at all so curious how he will do this year with the fireworks.

None of my Dobermans are bothered by fireworks. So pleased, because in the past I have had dogs that were terrified and had to be kept put up. They were a different breed.

Sound sensitivity is most likely to develop in dogs between the ages of 3-4. I do a lot of work when my dogs are young to make thunderstorms and fireworks positive experiences by feeding a lot of yummy foods during storms and fireworks so they form positive associations in the first few years of life. Even if they don't show any signs of being sensitive to noise when they are pups, doing that groundwork when young can help prevent them from developing problems later. Just my two cents, but after having a rescue dog that WAS storm/fireworks phobic, it's well worth my time to help my dogs feel good about this stuff.

It's much easier if you upload photos to an outside site like Flikr and then you can embed them right into the post.

McCoy does not "noise startle". I can shoot a shotgun off right next to him and it doesn't faze him. But the constant barrage starting before dusk and lasting until past 1 am really rattled him last year. He was pacing and drooling. It was primarily the illegal back yard type. We live on a ridge above the city, so there is really no escape.

I had to take him down in the basement and turn on some music. I will be staying home with him on the 4th.

Yea lol got to go around things with phones. Flickr doesn’t offer embed on browser through iphone. So you have to copy the url then take that to the tool rackonly website and you can embed there then copy. Good old google and youtube videos. Hahaha!!
