Hi everyone

I haven't posted in a while...but pay attention to the Doberman talk Facebook page. We filled a foster application and had the home inspection Sunday. My 10 year old blue Doberman Rommel was on his best behavior.

We received Caroline and Analee Monday evening. Both are very skinny, full of scars (from fight for food I imagine), and broken missing teeth. Caroline has weeping eye and is in heat. Both are emotionally distant at times but crave attention.

Yesterday we had to rush them to the vet because of dehydration. They had an appointment Wednesday but I was able to take them, drop them off and pick them up after work. Caroline the blue Doberman was 54 pounds and Analee was 61 pounds. They said that it was difficult to determine their age since their teeth were in such bad shape. Hw-. The vet put them in on Iv fluids to rehydrate. Antibiotic eye meds for the weeping eye.

They are sweet dogs that have the thousand mile stair at times. They are afraid to go outside..Analee does not want to go outside her crate and only wants to sleep. We are feeding them quality grain free food with pumpkin seed to help their tummy and pedialite for dehydration.

If they were not rescued when they were they would not lived much longer.

They are being kept separate from my dogs until they get confidence and strength back. My Rommel can be too much dober for them to take right now.

Good grief, those poor poor babies.

Thank you for starting this thread & again I thank you for helping these girls. People like you restore my rapidly diminishing faith in humanity. Please keep us updated as & when you can.

I know how you feel. I'm not a violent person but I'd make an exception for the POS scumbag that allowed this to happen. WTH is wrong with people?

Thank you so much for opening your heart and home to these poor Dobes. Did you get them directly from the shelter? Asking because I think the shelter is trying to get the names of everyone who came directly to the shelter to foster? And, yes, please keep us updated on these girls.

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers. I went through the proper channels with the Rescue. We were waiting for our home inspection Sunday when I saw the news on Facebook that the shelter was letting the locals take the dogs. I pray that those dogs were given the proper care.

I will keep coming here looking for advise in the coming months because these girls need a lot of care.

Let's be sure to stay in touch. Your babies look a lot like my girl, but slightly worse for the wear. :( Clover has the same stare you mentioned.. She tends to avoid eye contact most of the time, but there are times - like that tiny kiss she gave me yesterday - when I know her personality is fighting to come to the surface. She is also being kept separate from my dogs right now simply due to her being in heat and no clue on her health history. You're wonderful for offering these two babies a bit of peace for probably the first time in their lives.

How are you dealing with Clover's heat? Caroline is in heat and is bleeding. We bought diapers but they are expensive. This is my first time with a ins payed female....and we can't have them fixed they are signed them over.

Thank you for taking care of Clover. I am sure she is related to Caroline and Analee in someway

Here is a pic I took after I lathered them down with coconut oil (for their itchy skin). The vet did a skin scrape. I put t shirts to help comfort them and keep the coconut oil on. Their crates are in my dog room that the flooring is lined with kennel mats. It helps with easy cleanup and it's a soft surface. Our house has the ac on all the time and they have a ceiling fan. The room has a baby gate instead of a door.

I would play it safe and take it down...they said just pictures so I think the thread is fine.

Update: It was a good morning and the girls were waiting on me wanting to go outside to the bathroom. They also came in on their own and ate their breakfast. We did not have to leash them or bribe with treats...Analee wanted to go right back outside and she walked the perimeter and wanted in. Once inside she walked around the house as if she was looking for something. After we went inside to their room both of them were craving attention. Caroline's eye was just weepy....so more antibiotic drops.
